We all wish we could escape grief — but the only way to avoid grief is to avoid love.

ā€œGrief is optional in this lifetime. You don’t have to experience grief, but you can only avoid it by avoiding love.ā€

None of us choose grief.
We don’t want our loved one’s life to end.
We don’t want the pain, the longing, the emptiness that follows.

But grief isn’t the enemy — it’s the cost of having loved deeply.

If we never let anyone in, we could protect ourselves from this pain.

We could build a life with no heartbreak…
…but it would also be a life with no real connection.

No shared moments.
No memories that matter.
I don’t want to move through this lifetime avoiding the very thing that makes it meaningful.

I don’t want to miss the journey of love — especially the love that continues for those who have died.

Grief hurts because love mattered.
And love, even after loss, is still worth it.

How do you feel about the idea that grief is tied to the depth of our love?

Got the Sunday Scaries? We understand all too well. Here's something that can help. For us, walking--especially in cool air--is one of the fastest ways to get our brains out of fight, flight or freeze. You don't have to walk fast or even for very long. Check out the MRIs below and see all that brain activity (releasing endorphins and feel-good neurotransmitters) caused by a 20 minute stroll.

Try this little activity for anxiety relief: take a walk around your neighborhood. Notice five things you see, four things you hear, three things you smell, two things you can touch, and one thing you can taste. Let us know how it worked for you...
