Happy Halloween from the 19th Judicial District Mental Health Court! 🎃

On Thursday, October 23rd, the Mental Health Court celebrated two participants that have completed all five phases of the program, Jennifer Bryant and Daniel Brown.

The Mental Health Court is proud to announce that they have graduated 6 participants in the two years that the program has been open as well as having a zero percent recidivism rate.

Mental Health Court provides its participants with equitable and effective support while demanding accountability and treating each participant with dignity, respect, and room for personal growth. The MHC staff is pleased to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and effort both graduates have demonstrated over the past year.

Judge Katy Olita of the 19th Judicial District presides over the Mental Health Court, and Sharita Brown serves as the Director; both shared words of encouragement during the ceremony, while guest speaker Doctor Kate Cozart highlighted the importance of reframing your mindset and choosing different soundtracks to play to yourself when it comes to your thinking patterns.

Applications to join the program can only be made through legal counsel or by referral from a judge. Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to the supporters of this vital program.

Brittany is one of our participants and chose to do her community service hours at YAIPAK due to the amount of support the organization has provided for her during a very hard time of her life.

We are so proud of her and all of the dedication and success she has shown throughout the program! 🙂

The month of September is National Su***de Prevention Month.

On Saturday, September 20th, the 19th Judicial District Mental Health Court and its participants attended the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Out of the Darkness Walk.

This is a community wide event to raise funds for the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention and to raise awareness in our community that help is available to those who struggle with the loss of someone or who are struggling themselves. No one has to walk alone. 💜💙

This event is great opportunity to meet individuals from different county departments, to ask and answer questions, as well as to enjoy fun interactions with Montgomery County residents through games and conversations!
