On Monday, June 9th, 2025, The Montgomery County Mental Health Court attended Equine Therapy at Broken Wing Ranch in Centerville, Tennessee.

Participants were able to observe an exercise in which a horse displayed a trauma response from its past, and were able to identify with one of the two horses that were utilized within this exercise. Participants were also encouraged to share some of their own stories and how they could relate to the horses.

The Mental Health Court and its participants are very thankful for Dale Jana Phillips and his family for letting us come back as well as for allowing us to always feel welcome in their own backyard. 🐴

Start a conversation: A simple conversation can spark transformation. Whether a father, brother, uncle, friend, or colleague, check in with the men in your life.

Share resources: Help normalize seeking help by sharing information about mental health support services, hotlines, and local organizations. Let others know support is available — and that it works.

Create safe spaces: Encourage environments — at home, work, school, barbershop, gym, church, or in the community — where men feel comfortable opening up without judgment. Sometimes, just knowing it’s OK to talk makes all the difference.
