I was one of the many people out grabbing a few extra things to prep for the winter storm. Crowded stores are usually not my thing… and wow, they were packed.
But even with limited supplies, long lines, and workers hustling hard, I kept having really pleasant encounters with people.
A woman in line at Dollar General complimented my purse (the one my sister bought me because she felt I needed at least one “adult purse” 😂). We laughed about my need for an adult purse and chatted while we waited.
At Rural King there were no carts left, so I was standing in line holding a big bag of de-icer. The woman behind me noticed and offered to let me set it in her cart. Such a small thing, but it meant a lot.
Then later, I asked a woman where she found the 5-gallon gas cans she was carrying. She let me know she ordered them for pickup—but then she stopped, pulled up the app, and helped me find the exact aisle. An extra step she didn't have to do for a stranger, but she took a moment to help me anyway.
It’s little moments like these that remind me how special this community is and how genuinely grateful I am to work with and care for the people of Clarksville every day.
