I will be out of the office this week due to illness. My daughter and I caught a head cold đ¤§
So, I wanted to share a few ways we are taking care of ourselves.
As soon as she got sick, I immediately make a big pot of chicken noodle soup. Basic ingredients, except I add chopped kale and a squeeze of lemon juice in my soup.
I love to make a big pot of Nettle or elderflower tea with chamomile for us to sip on all day. I get my tea at the Crunchy Depot in town, can't recommend that place enough.
I also love these Body Armor packets to keep us hydrated. I'm not running a marathon, and we don't have fevers, so a fourth of a packet a day does the trick.
Then cough drops, popsicles, vitamins, and OTC meds if needed. Just sharing what helps us â always consult your doctor before trying new treatments or herbal remedies.
As a massage therapist, though, I always start stretching when I get sick. Especially with congestion. Gentle neck circles, tensing then releasing my shoulders, chest openers from slouching too much while resting. Stretching helps to keep things moving.
I have a set of cold stones that I keep at home to massage around my cheekbones to relieve some of the tension. When my whole face feels the pressure, I do a gentle massage with circular movements around my forehead, temple, eyes, cheekbones, and jaw.
Last but not least. I'm going to allow myself the opportunity to rest, without guilt, because that's the real recovery. Allow my body time to rest and fight off this cold. Rest without guilt is not easy for a lot of women, so if you're moving through this season too â whether itâs illness, stress, or just exhaustion â I hope you give yourself the same permission.
Healing doesnât only come from what we do.
Sometimes it comes from what we allow ourselves to stop doing.
