Yesterday, our Ashland City and Pleasant View clinics teamed up to present at the Cheatham County Geriatric Council meeting. They shared valuable insights on how physical therapy can enhance the quality of life of seniors, from improving mobility and balance to reducing pain and preventing falls. They also highlighted the benefits of pelvic floor physical therapy!

This year, for our clinic challenge, our Brentwood Clinic chose to support the Sara Walker Foundation (SWF) in memory of our beloved therapist and coworker, who passed away 13 years ago from cancer. The Sara Walker Foundation is close to our hearts, and Alison Jordan has served on its board since it started in 2013. Sara's Foundation sponsors scholarships at Belmont University School of Physical Therapy - DPT and at Sara's high school in Alabama, and fully funds the tuition for a PT student in Haiti. The SWF also supports the ongoing work of The Pearl House Ghana, which is home to over 70 young women and run by Sara's college roommate. The Pearl House provides HOPE to these young women (Healing, Opportunity, Protection, Education). Additionally, the SWF supports the work of Blessings Hospital in Malawi, Africa, by funding medical mission trips and two mobile medical units that provide life-saving care and medication to over 25,000 people in remote villages each year.

Our Brentwood staff were happy to support The Sara Walker Foundation as it is near and dear to their hearts. Through their fundraising efforts, they raised over $1,000 for the Sara Walker Foundation! Thank you to everyone who donated and supported our fundraising efforts!

Laura Bonanni is a Physical Therapist Assistant at our East Nashville clinic! Laura is originally from Philadelphia and has lived in Nashville for almost four years with her boyfriend and dog, Quinn. She graduated from PTA school in 2021, and her first PTA job was here with STAR.

Fun Fact: At her college orientation, Laura met a girl with the same name and same birthday. Turns out they are distant cousins!

Hobbies/Interests: Laura loves football (Go Eagles!), reading, and working out.

❤️🚶‍♂️ Our Hermitage clinic is raising funds for the American Heart Association - Tennessee – Middle Tennessee Heart Walk this Saturday, September 20th, in honor of our patient, Clifton Lide! 🚶‍♀️❤️

In 2021, Clifton survived a life-threatening heart attack that led to bilateral amputation and a 6-month hospital stay. Clifton came to our Hermitage clinic weak but determined. Today, he's pushing sleds, crushing battle ropes, mastering balance challenges, and even teaching our team frisbee golf, conquering life every day! 💪

This past weekend, our orthopedic residency clinicians came together for our Upper Quarter 1 course, diving into the cervical spine, thoracic spine, ribs, and TMJ. 🧠💪

It was an intense and rewarding couple of days, and we’re so proud of their commitment to clinical excellence and how hard they’re working to grow their skills and become even better for the patients they serve every day.

Last Thursday, STAR Physical Therapy had the privilege of attending the Freed-Hardeman University PTA Clinical Education Appreciation Night, hosted by West Tennessee Bone & Joint Institute!

The evening featured excellent presentations from Dr. Jace Smith, Dr. W. Stan Ragon, and Physical Therapists Tom Johnson, PT, and Kristi Greene, PT, who shared valuable education on topics including Anterior THA and ACL Reconstruction & Rehab. The knowledge and insight gained will directly impact how we serve our patients on their rehabilitation journeys.

We are grateful for the partnership with West Tennessee Bone & Joint and Freed-Hardeman University, and we truly appreciate the trust and support extended to STAR Physical Therapy. Events like these strengthen our commitment to providing the very best care. 💙

We're incredibly proud of our Clinic Director, Megan Hemmingsen, who recently spoke at the Clarksville Civitan Club meeting about culture, serving others, especially those most in need, and what that looks like at STAR Physical Therapy and our Clarksville North Clinic! 💙

Megan shared how we strive to make a meaningful impact in our communities, with her powerful message focused on the theme "How you do anything is how you do everything." 💯

Our Clarksville North Clinic is excited to support the Special Olympics of Greater Clarksville this summer through our fundraising efforts. The coolest guy in town graduated from physical therapy today!! Lincoln has been recovering from surgery after a broken leg. He put in a lot of hard work, and is back to running fast and scoring goals on the soccer field! Our whole clinic is super proud of him. We will miss his humor and kindness most!
