Melasma 😰… What is it & what can you do about it? 🤔

Melasma is a skin condition where the pigment cells (melanocytes) over produce and cause dark spots or patches on the skin. The etiology is not definitively known but it is thought to be caused by-

Though preventing sunburns is ideal, sometimes our skin protection plans go awry. So what is there to do when the summer heat has us beat? Follow these steps to help heal a sunburn and reduce the redness quickly.

Tip #6: After getting indoors, try these tricks for sunburn relief.
🚿 Take a cool shower to alleviate pain
🧴 Leave water on your skin after toweling off and apply lotion with aloe or soy to help retain moisture
💊 Ibuprofen and aspirin can help with swelling, redness, and burning
💧 Drink extra water to prevent dehydration
🩹 Blisters could be a sign of second degree burn. Resist the urge to pop! Leave them untouched and allow the underlying skin to heal.
