Introducing Becoming Therapy Center!
HM Counseling is now Becoming Therapy Center. With the launch of my new practice name, I wanted to share a personal story about why this work means so much to me.

I became a parent during the COVID-19 pandemic while living in Hawaii. My husband was often away for military trainings, family and friends were far, COVID restrictions were plentiful, and I felt like I was on an island in every sense of the word.

Even as a therapist, I wasn’t prepared for how much would shift—my identity, my relationships, my sense of self. It wasn’t just adjusting to a new role as a mom. It felt like an unraveling and a reforming of who I was.

That experience shaped everything. I sought specialized training through Postpartum Support International and began focusing my clinical work on perinatal and maternal mental health. After moving back to Tennessee, I saw a clear need for this type of specialized care, especially in our Clarksville community. I was inspired to create a space rooted in the kind of support I once longed for: approachable, collaborative, affirming, and grounded in community, with a deep commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care.

Back then, I had no idea who I would grow to be or what would come from that season. Honestly, I’m still figuring it out, moment by moment. But that’s what Becoming is all about—honoring where you’ve been while making space for the version of you that is still unfolding.

Significant life events and major transitions change us. Loss and trauma change us. Pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood change us.

But you are not broken.
You are becoming.

Thank you for growing with me,
Hannah

Important Announcement!
Beginning August 1, HM Counseling, PLLC, will operate under the name Becoming Therapy Center.

This name reflects the heart of the work I do—helping clients navigate growth, healing, and identity through life’s many transitions. Becoming Therapy Center is about honoring who you are while making space for who you’re becoming.

This change also marks a meaningful next step as I shift from solo practice into a group model. I’m expanding to offer more support to our community and to provide compassionate, high-quality care during life’s most tender and transformative seasons.

My practice will continue to offer specialized care in perinatal and maternal mental health, supporting individuals and couples through family planning, pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, perinatal loss and trauma, and the deep identity shifts that often come with parenthood.

You are not broken.
You are becoming.

Thank you for growing with me,
Hannah

I adore mornings spent with The Mama University. Shared connection and honest conversations go a long way in buffering against mom guilt and shame.

One key takeaway from this week’s gathering: the way we speak to ourselves matters.

Here are a few gentle shifts to try when mom shame creeps in:

• “I should be doing more” → “I’m doing my best with what I have.”
• “Why am I like this?” → “I’m human, and I’m learning.”
• “I’m not good enough” → “I’m exactly what my child needs.”

This is self-compassion in action. Try speaking to yourself the way you would a loved one—with encouragement, care, and grace in the moments that feel hardest.

🌿 Meet the Expert: Hannah Mersereau, LPC-MHSP 🌿
This week at Mama University, we’re honored to welcome Hannah Mersereau, a licensed professional counselor specializing in perinatal mental health.

Hannah’s heart is for mamas—just like you—navigating the tender seasons of pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood. With years of compassionate, evidence-based care under her belt, Hannah brings a wealth of wisdom to help us unpack some of the most common but rarely talked about struggles of motherhood.

🍼 This Week’s Session Highlights:
✨ Understanding the baby blues vs. postpartum depression — what’s normal, what to expect, and when it’s time to seek extra support.
✨ Tackling mom guilt — that nagging voice we all wrestle with, and how to quiet it with truth and grace.
