Many people link Celtic knots and Egyptian scarabs as purely decorative, but both cultures used looping, interlaced designs to symbolize continuity of life and protection—with Celtic endless knots appearing in metalwork and manuscripts from the early medieval period as markers of eternal kinship, while Egyptian scarab amulets, often inscribed and made from glazed steatite, were worn and placed with the dead to symbolize rebirth and the solar cycle; the surprising overlap is the shared visual language of life-cycle continuity despite very different materials and rituals. 🪲✝️
