This memorial service centered on the idea that grief is love that has changed form, using the image of a missing puzzle piece to express how deeply we feel the absence of those we love. It reminds us that while loss leaves an empty space, God’s love holds the whole picture together, offering healing and hope. Through faith, remembrance, and gratitude, it assures us that love endures beyond death and lives on forever in God’s eternal embrace.
Thank you to everyone who attended this memorial service and allowing us to serve and honor your and your loved ones. A huge shout out to The Bridge for their hospitality.

Camp Willow Creek – July Session
Day 2:

Today at Camp Willow Creek, our campers took brave steps toward learning how to cope with grief in healthy, meaningful ways. We explored how grief doesn’t just live in our thoughts it can show up in our bodies, our emotions, and sometimes at unexpected times. These moments are called triggers, and learning to recognize them is a powerful step in healing.

Campers shared memories of their loved ones and discovered that even though someone may be gone, love never leaves. They created memory keepsakes and had quiet moments to reflect, helping them feel connected to the people they miss.

Together, we built personalized grief toolkits filled with calming strategies like breathing exercises, grounding techniques, comforting words, and simple items that bring peace and reassurance. These toolkits are reminders that no matter where they are or what they’re feeling, they have tools—and they are never alone.

By the end of the day, each child walked away with a deeper understanding of their emotions and new ways to care for their heart when grief feels heavy. Today was a day of courage, comfort, and connection.

Camp Willow Creek – July Session
Day 1:

Today at Camp Willow Creek, our campers began their journey by learning about what grief is a natural response to losing someone we love. Through stories, group discussions, and creative activities, we helped children understand that grief looks and feels different for everyone, and there is no right or wrong way to feel.

Campers were encouraged to give their feelings a name whether it was sadness, anger, confusion, or even relief and were reminded that bravery doesn’t mean hiding those feelings, but rather having the courage to feel them and speak them out loud.

We also talked about how other people, even friends or family, might not always understand how they feel and that’s okay. What matters most is knowing they are not alone, and their feelings are real, important, and welcome here.

Through kindness, connection, and courage, Day 1 reminded each camper that healing begins with understanding and that every story of grief deserves to be heard with gentleness and care.

Camp Willow Creek – July Session
Day 3:

On our final day at Camp Willow Creek, campers discovered that even in the middle of grief, their hearts can feel joy again. Through stories, reflection, and interactive activities, they learned that healing doesn’t mean forgetting—it means learning to carry love forward in a new way.

We explored what it means to have a happy place and a safe place, whether that’s a real location, a memory, or simply being with someone who makes them feel understood. Campers also learned to recognize their safe people, the trusted friends and adults they can turn to when they need support.

Using calming breathing techniques and mindfulness skills, we practiced ways to stay grounded when emotions feel overwhelming. One of the most powerful lessons today was about the “missing piece”—the space in our hearts where our loved one lives. We reminded every child that no one can ever take that place, and that it’s okay to grow around the grief, to laugh again, and to keep living with love.

Today was about hope. Hope that healing is possible. Hope that joy can return. And the deep understanding that although their lives have changed, they are never walking this journey alone.
