September is both Healthy Aging Month and Pain Awareness Month — two important reminders that living well as we age means caring for both the body and the mind.

Chronic pain doesn’t just affect mobility; it can also take a toll on mental health, increasing the risk of depression and anxiety. The good news? With coordinated care, you don’t have to face it alone.

Our providers at Avance Care are here to help you manage pain while supporting your emotional well-being. Learn more here:

When we think of pain, often we think it to be something physical – whether that be from injury, accident, sickness, disease, etc. This commonly held belief permeates throughout our society, […]

Managing multiple health conditions can feel overwhelming - but you don’t have to do it alone!

This Healthy Aging Month, we’re spotlighting our Chronic Care Management (CCM) services, designed to support older adults living with two or more chronic conditions. From monthly check-ins to medication coordination and personalized care plans, CCM helps you stay on track between visits and age well with confidence.

We’re excited to share that our Behavioral Health and Psychiatry providers will be featured tomorrow (Thursday, August 28th) on WRAL’s Back to School series! Tune in to hear our team provide support to parents as they navigate developmental and mental health challenges their children may face.

The coverage includes a conversation with parents and Dr. Scott Swartzwelder, Loryn Jones, and Tamekia Powell, as well as insights from Dr. John Looney’s talk at our Back to School Event at the YMCA!

We are grateful to our providers and the parents who joined the discussion—representing preschool through college-aged children, the Wake County PTA, local preschools, and NAMI—for bringing such meaningful perspectives.

Here is a sneak peek at our providers in action!

🥫 That's a wrap on our 2025 Avance Against Hunger Food Drive! Over 3 weeks, 27 Avance Care locations participated to donate a total of 6,641 items to Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC and Second Harvest of Metrolina!

1 in 8 North Carolinians face food insecurity, and 1 in 5 children are unsure where their next meal will come from. This is why we gathered together to support our communities. As Matt Eirich, CEO of Avance Care said, "Health is about more than just doctor visits. It’s also about having access to basic needs like nutritious food."

Thank you to every single patient and team member who donated items for our communities. Every single donation plays a part in supporting our local communities - and we couldn't have done it without you.

Looking for summer fun and nutritious snacks? Inspired by the daughter of one of our very own Avance Care Behavioral Therapists, these energy balls are a kid (and adult!) favorite. These no bake, throw-everything-in-one-bowl oat bites are a fun way to get your children involved in preparing a well-balanced snack. Plus, they are a great source of fiber and healthy fats to fuel your child’s (and your own) brain and body.
