🚨 Flu Update for Our Community 🚨
We are currently seeing a significant flu outbreak across the Southeast, and many patients are hearing the term “Super Flu.” Here’s what that means—and what you can do to protect yourself and your family.
🦠What is “Super Flu”?
“Super Flu” is not a new virus, but a term being used to describe particularly aggressive flu strains that are spreading quickly this season. These strains often cause more intense symptoms, can last longer, and may lead to complications—especially in children, older adults, and those with chronic conditions.
🤒 Common Symptoms May Include:
• High fever and chills
• Severe body aches and fatigue
• Headache
• Sore throat and cough
• Nasal congestion
• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea (more common in children)
🛡️ What You Can Do Now:
✔️ Get evaluated early—antiviral medications work best within the first 48 hours
✔️ Stay home if you’re sick to prevent spreading illness
✔️ Wash hands frequently and disinfect commonly touched surfaces
✔️ Stay hydrated and rest
✔️ Wear a mask if you are ill or caring for someone who is
✔️ Seek medical care right away if symptoms worsen or breathing becomes difficult
