***New guidelines for prescribing opioids***
As of yesterday, the CDC has put out guidelines that suggest opioids NO LONGER should be prescribed for chronic pain.
This guidance by the CDC is going to be a giant leap to make for both the pain suffering patients as well as the conditioned care-givers and will take a conscious effort by both sides to start looking deeper at safer alternatives to prescription pain killers.
This CDC statement follows a February 4 article on opioid abuse in the New England Journal of Medicine.
