Most of your day is spent standing, sitting, or moving without giving your legs a true break. A simple way to counter this is the “legs up the wall” pose, or Viparita Karani.
By lying on your back and resting your legs vertically against a wall, you gently reverse the pull of gravity your body experiences all day. This encourages blood and lymph to move back toward your heart, which can reduce swelling and refresh tired legs and feet.
The position also supports your nervous system. Slow, steady breathing activates the parasympathetic response, helping your heart rate ease down and your mind settle. Many people find this helps with overall relaxation and sleep quality.
