Hi, I'm Sylvia Burgos Toftness -- farmer, radio producer, and life-long herbalism student. For 14 years, my husband Dave and I bred, grazed and direct-marketed grass-fed-grass-finished beef. My studies intensified about 10 years ago, and I started wild-crafting and making herbal remedies and tonics. Our farm, Bull Brook Keep, is a platform for conversation and peer-learning. Herbal Safaris. These are outdoor walks where you'll enjoy open spaces and fresh air as we meet the many helpful plants growing across our farm so that you can recognize them in your own backyard. Then take the next step and learn to use these helpful plants in remedies and tonics.

This Giant Swallowtail is a frequent visitor to the little garden just outside my kitchen window. He/she seems to like the brilliant monarda, as well as the flowering anise hyssop, catnip and hoary vervain. I'm glad to share these medicinal herbs with the wild pollinators on the farm.
