The problem in healthcare isn't uniquely a healthcare problem.

It's that from the time you get care until a provider gets paid, it takes months.

Compare that to any efficient market. You buy a meal with your credit card? Seconds. Online purchase? Seconds. But in this massive $5 trillion healthcare market? Months.

What Boe Hartman, Co-founder and CTO of Nomi Health realized, is that this inefficiency creates waste that just sits there. It makes everything expensive, outcomes harder to achieve, and creates business inefficiencies.

In Boe's 25 years in banking, he solved these exact same problems. This is a solvable problem.

Here at Nomi, we can bring those real-time systems into healthcare and create efficiency where everything runs in real time.

Join us in welcoming John-Michael Loke – SVP, Financial Services

For more than 20 years, John-Michael has worked at the intersection of healthcare and payments, advancing digital solutions in a system still slowed by paper checks, legacy tech, and inefficient workflows.

He’s seen firsthand how outdated processes strain both payors and providers. And he’s built a career around fixing them.

Now, he brings that expertise to Nomi Health. With John-Michael on our Financial Services team, we’re doubling down on faster payments, better transparency, and real value for all sides of the healthcare equation.

Welcome to the team, John-Michael! We’re thrilled to have your energy and insight as we modernize healthcare payments and rebuild the system to work better for everyone.

In May, we stepped away from our desks and into our communities.

Nomi Health’s Month of Impact was a chance for our teams across the country to give back in ways that matter, to them and to the places they call home.

❤️ In Tulsa, the team volunteered at Iron Gate Tulsa, helping ensure everyone has access to nutritious food. One of our team members, Loni Gunter, shared:

"This was such a meaningful opportunity. We heard from so many people who said they appreciate the 'Nomi Girls' showing up — because when we do, they feel seen, cared about, and empowered."

🌿 Salt Lake City spent time Wasatch Community Gardens, supporting sustainable local agriculture.

🌻 Ann Arbor helped arrange flower bouquets for nurses at The Farm at Trinity Health MI, bringing a little beauty to those who give so much.

🧹 In Omaha, the team helped clean up a local park with Keep Omaha Beautiful, Inc., making space for neighbors to enjoy the outdoors.

To everyone who gave their time and energy — thank you. This work is personal to us. Building a better healthcare system starts with building stronger communities.

Wait — did diabetes costs just drop for the first time ever? 👀

Our latest analysis uncovered that annual spend for diabetics, which has been leveling off for the last three years, actually decreased slightly in 2024.

Great news, right? Well... it's complicated. This shift could signal a major opportunity — or a hidden tradeoff.

We break down what’s really behind the trend and how employers can turn a long-time cost burden into a competitive advantage.

Your insurance carrier holds the keys to your healthcare data. You might have access to a sliver of it today, but it's not the full picture. Why? Because that data protects their bottom line. And, that access can disappear at any point.

If you’re managing employee healthcare dollars, data transparency isn’t optional — it’s essential.

It’s time to demand ownership of your healthcare data.

Who holds the keys to your data? As an employer and plan sponsor, we believe it should be you.

74% of employers are saying WTF — What The Fiduciary?!

That’s how many are worried about fiduciary duty and recent litigation.

And for good reason. When you're legally responsible for your employees' health plan, you need to know exactly what you're managing, yet most employers are flying blind.

You might have access to your data today...but that can vanish tomorrow. You should own your data, not just be able to peek at it from time to time.

If this made you say WTF, it’s time to turn that question around. Ask your carrier and vendors: WTF—why don’t I have complete rights to my data? 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. faced mental health challenges in the past year.

We’d never tell someone with a broken bone to “just walk it off.” Your mental health deserves the same level of care, resources, and support as your physical health.

This month is about more than awareness. It’s about reminding ourselves and those we care about that it’s okay to ask for help and take that first step toward healing.

Did you know acupuncture mapped energy pathways 2,500 years before we understood the nervous system? Or that Ayurvedic medicine pioneered personalized care 5,000 years before today's precision medicine?

True innovation means recognizing and honoring enduring principles: that healthcare should be personalized, preventive, community-oriented, and treat the whole person, body, mind, and spirit.

Every missed mammogram represents an employee who may not know she has cancer until it's harder to treat, more expensive to manage, and more disruptive to her life and career. Our Trends in Spend analysis shows breast cancer treatment for unscreened women costs 18% more on average—impacting both human lives and healthcare budgets. Nomi Health's CEO and Co-founder Mark Newman explains why this matters:

"Behind every delayed diagnosis is a person, a family, and a harder road ahead. When we're seeing advanced breast cancer treatments costing up to $120,000 per episode for unscreened patients – that's over $44,000 more than those who were screened. These numbers represent thousands of women and families facing more intensive treatments that could have been caught earlier."
