🌟 Representing PARC in the community! 🌟
A huge shoutout to Abbie and Kelsey for representing PARC’s Pre‑ETS program at the Davis School District Transition Fair! Their passion for supporting students as they explore career paths and build independence truly shines.
Thank you both for showcasing the opportunities PARC provides and for empowering the next generation of young adults with disabilities. 💙👏 If you know a youth high school age that would be interested in some career assistances, please do not hesitate to reach out to PARC. We have a great summer program coming up as well.

March is Women’s History Month and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. At the intersection of these celebrations are Lois Curtis and Elaine Wilson, two women with cognitive and developmental disabilities who were institutionalized in Georgia.

In 1995, Lois and Elaine sued the State of Georgia for discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act. They sought a release from institutionalization and placement in a more integrated community environment. The case, Olmstead v. L.C. went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled that unjustified segregation of people with disabilities is a form of unlawful discrimination.

Today, society recognizes the right of people with disabilities to live, work, and take part in their communities, thanks to the determination and perseverance of two women with developmental disabilities!
