Prioritizing overall wellness will balance your life, which is required for your external and internal world. If negative thoughts and anxiety live in your mind, they will reflect on the outside. In turn, if your environment is toxic and stressful, unfortunately, you will see the damaging effects on your mind. Your mind is in control of everything you do. Mindfulness means having a moment-by-moment awareness of your thoughts, feelings, body, and environment. The mind-body connection is the result of having a mindful lifestyle. I’ve always tried to outsmart the system, or in this case, outsmart my mind. I was reminded each time that you cannot take the back roads or crawl through a subway when dealing with your mind. I needed to walk straight through the front door and face my constant mental turmoil. Finally, I realized that if I wanted to feel less stressed than yesterday, I needed to get my mind under control. In other words, I needed to Mind My Beauty. Notice that I said, “To feel less stressed than yesterday,” rather than, “Get rid of stress entirely.” I’m not perfect, so I don’t expect to have all of this figured out in a day. However, I know enough to realize that I’ll have a greater chance of success if I make small, realistic goals. Therefore, each day my goal is to feel less stressed than yesterday. The physical effects of stress on the body, inside and outside, are disastrous. If your mind is suffering from any negative feelings or illnesses, there will be an impact on the body. Your skin, eyes, hair, head, muscles, stomach, weight, hormones, and organs can all be affected by stress. Maintaining your health is critical to having a mindful lifestyle. Bring your mind-body connection to the forefront, prioritize the lifestyle you want, and believe in yourself. Beauty starts from within, then it’s reflected on the outside. True beauty stems from your thoughts and is displayed to the world through your choices. You always have the chance to choose your path, so choose mindfulness. When your parents taught you to “Mind your manners,” they meant to pay attention to your actions and behavior. Therefore, your mind dictates your behavior. So now I’ll challenge you with this final note. Every morning when you wake up, practice mindfulness. Repeat to yourself, “Mind My Beauty, Mind My Beauty.” Pay attention to your physical and mental beauty; achieve wellness.
