If you have an autoimmune condition and you’re exhausted all the time… this episode is for you.

Episode #163 dives into low-dose GLP-1 therapy and how it may impact fatigue, inflammation, and daily function — not just the number on the scale.

Because sometimes the goal isn’t weight loss.
It’s getting your life back. 💛

GLP-1s aren’t just for weight loss. 👀

In Episode #163, I’m joined by Sarah Lakadawala, DNP (one of our own at CFMA!) to talk about her doctoral project exploring low-dose (“microdose”) semaglutide in autoimmune disease—with a focus on fatigue and quality of life, not the scale.

We cover:
✅ What autoimmune disease really means (your immune system “misfiring”)
✅ Why fatigue + inflammation can be so debilitating
✅ What she measured (Fatigue Severity Scale + PROMIS-29)
✅ What improved (fatigue + several quality-of-life domains)
✅ Why labs like CRP can be tricky in real-world patients on steroids/biologics
✅ Why consistency beats perfection for anti-inflammatory habits

If you have an autoimmune condition and you’re exhausted all the time… this episode will feel very validating. 💛

Pregnant or trying to conceive and thinking about stopping your inhaler?

I see this all the time.

Fear makes people stop medications. Evidence helps us use them safely.

Well-controlled asthma is safer than poorly controlled asthma in pregnancy. Oxygen matters for mom and baby.

Before you stop anything, have a conversation.

“Fear makes people stop medications. Evidence helps us use them safely.”

When it comes to allergies and asthma in pregnancy, fear is common.

Women are often told to “just stop everything” — inhalers, antihistamines, even maintenance medications — without understanding the risks of uncontrolled disease.

But medicine shouldn’t be driven by fear.

It should be guided by evidence, nuance, and individualized care.

In Episode #162, I join Dr. Erica Bove to talk through what’s actually safe during preconception and pregnancy — and why well-controlled asthma protects both mom and baby.

Latergram 🤪 - sometimes I just can't find the time to post

We had a great morning at the Glam Run 5K a few weeks ago.

We were so proud to sponsor this event and connect with so many people in our community — and yes, we finished before the Florida “frigid” weather rolled in ❄️

A big thank you to the Palm Harbor University High School Medical Program for letting us be part of such a fun and meaningful day. We loved networking, cheering runners on, and meeting future healthcare leaders 🩺

So happy our team showed up and supported the event as well. It always means so much when our office family is present in the community 💙

At our table, we brought a little metabolic health twist with a Grip Strength Challenge 💪

Grip strength is actually a powerful marker of overall health and longevity. Research shows it can correlate with muscle mass, metabolic health, and even long-term outcomes — so it was a fun (and slightly competitive) way to spark conversations about prevention.

Grateful to serve this community both inside and outside the office.

If you’re looking for a primary care physician who focuses on prevention, metabolic health, weight management, and allergy & asthma care — we’re here for you.

Progesterone allergy during fertility treatment?

Yes — but it’s rare.

In Episode #162, I joined Dr. Erica Bove on Love & Science Fertility to discuss reactions to progesterone during IVF and pregnancy.

Here’s what’s important:

• True progesterone allergy is uncommon
• More often, patients react to the oil or additives in the formulation
• Individualized evaluation may help
• In certain situations, desensitization is possible

Fertility treatment is already stressful. The last thing you need is confusion about medication reactions.

Evidence matters. Individualized care matters.

Allergy and asthma in pregnancy don’t have to be confusing—or scary.

In Episode #162, I join Dr. Erica Bove on Love & Science Fertility to break down what’s actually safe when you’re trying to conceive or already pregnant.

We talk about:
• Why well-controlled asthma is safer than poorly controlled asthma in pregnancy
• Which antihistamines (like loratadine and cetirizine) are commonly considered safe
• Why nasal steroids like budesonide remain first-line
• What to avoid (like systemic decongestants)
• Allergy shots—when to continue vs. when not to start
• Biologics like Xolair and Dupixent
• Progesterone reactions during fertility treatments

If you’ve ever wondered whether you should stop your inhaler the minute you see a positive test… this episode is for you.
