I had a patient who came in frustrated because her BLOATING simply would not go away.

She was trying to make good choices for her digestion, but she kept experiencing that uncomfortable floating feeling, where the abdomen feels expanded, tight, and unsettled no matter what you do.

👉 This is the part of bloating most people miss.

Bloating is rarely random. The body is always giving clues, but you have to know how to follow those clues in the right order.

It was cucumbers!

Yes, cucumbers.

A food most people would never suspect.

🔬 Once a food enters the body, it’s not no longer just "healthy" vs. "not healthy," it becomes a biochemical event.

Cucumbers contain fibers, seeds, skins, natural plant compounds, and water rich cellular material that all have to be tolerated, broken down, and processed by the digestive tract.

For this patient, cucumbers were aggravating her gut enough to create that persistent bloating, along with gut distention that would often lead to abdominal pain.

Once we removed cucumbers, her bloating was immediately gone!.

I had a patient who was truly trying to do everything right.

She was eating clean, following the advice she had been given, and building her meals around protein because everyone told her that was the answer for weight loss. But her body was not responding.

The scale was stuck. She felt heavy and inflamed. She could not understand why all of her effort was producing so little change.

👉This is where the personalized details of each patient matters. My suspicion was that something very specific in her diet was holding her back.

So, we followed an exact method and did a deep dive into exactly what she was eating, how often she was eating it, and how her body was responding.

😮We discovered it was organic chicken. Yes, organic chicken. She could eat beef. She could eat fish. She could eat other protein sources. But chicken was not working in her body. This is why I say protein is not just protein.

The lab work is there, but the direction is missing.

It is a good sign when you are asking questions about your health and looking into things.

Truly. It tells me you are paying attention, you know something is off, and you are trying to take your health seriously. That matters, and I think you deserve credit for that.

😮What so many people do, though, is get uncomfortable enough with their symptoms, their weight, their energy, or the way they feel in their own body that they start reaching for answers in a very pieced together way.

They read something, hear something, try something, cut something out, add something in, then move on to the next thing if they do not get quick relief.

That feels proactive, but it usually is not the best way to approach a struggling body.

Why? Because when people build their next step around frustration, fear, or urgency, they are usually reacting to the noise of the moment instead of understanding the bigger picture.

And that is how people end up putting a lot of effort into the wrong things.

🟢What you deserve instead is a more thoughtful approach. You deserve to slow down long enough to understand why your body is struggling in the first place, because a body that is already under stress usually does not do better with more chaos.

👎Another thing people do all the time is start collecting little pieces from all over the place. A post here, a podcast there, a friend’s advice, a supplement someone swears by, a food list, a hormone theory, a metabolism theory.

🌸 Bloating is common, but that does not make it simple.

If this keeps happening, I do not want you thinking only about how uncomfortable it feels or how frustrating it is to watch your stomach change through the day.

I want you thinking about what it may be trying to tell you.

Because bloating is often treated like the answer, when it is really the clue.

1️⃣ What most people miss

Most people hear the word bloating and reduce it to food.

But bloating is not one thing.

It is often the visible result of something upstream not working the way it should. The issue may not be the meal itself. The issue may be how your body is handling that meal.

◇ That deeper picture can involve:

▸ how food is being broken down

▸ how food is moving through the digestive tract

▸ what is happening in the microbiome

▸ how much inflammation is present

▸ how stress, thyroid, hormones, or blood sugar are affecting digestion

2️⃣ How I think about it

When you tell me you are bloated over and over, I am not only thinking, What did you eat?

I am also thinking, What is your body struggling to do well right now?

I start thinking about whether digestion is beginning properly, whether food is moving properly, and whether your system is calm enough and supported enough to process meals the way it should.

◇ So I start considering whether the body is doing these jobs well:

▸ producing enough stomach acid

▸ releasing enough pancreatic enzymes

▸ moving bile efficiently

▸ keeping the microbiome balanced

▸ moving food and waste along at the right pace

▸ regulating inflammation appropriately

▸ maintaining steady blood sugar

▸ supporting healthy thyroid and stress response function

3️⃣ Why one symptom can have multiple causes

This is where so many women get frustrated.

The symptom looks simple, but the physiology underneath it may not be.

◇ Your bloating may reflect:

◆ Low stomach acid, which can leave food, especially protein, poorly broken down

◆ Weak pancreatic enzyme output, which can make fats, proteins, and carbohydrates harder to digest efficiently

◆ Sluggish bile flow, which can leave you feeling heavy and distended, especially after richer meals

◆ Dysbiosis, yeast, or bacterial overgrowth, which can create fermentation, gas, pressure, and irritation

◆ Slow motility or constipation, which can create backup, fullness, and abdominal swelling

◆ Gut lining irritation, which can change how food is tolerated and processed

◆ Thyroid slowdown, which can reduce motility and slow digestion

◆ Stress chemistry, which can lower digestive capacity and impair movement through the gut

◆ Blood sugar instability, which can feed inflammation and make the digestive system more reactive

◆ Nutrient depletion, which can weaken enzyme production, repair, and overall digestive efficiency

4️⃣ Why generic advice often falls flat

This is exactly why one woman cuts out dairy and improves, while another cuts out half her diet and still feels miserable.

This is why one probiotic helps one person and makes another feel worse.

This is why one supplement may give temporary relief without ever touching the real pattern.

So when nothing seems to fully fix it, that does not automatically mean your body is impossible to understand.

At some point, a symptom like this deserves more than guessing.

Most people only look at symptoms and try to fix with the latest trend...I look at regulation.

Because I understand biochemistry, physiology,

and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the 6 levels of health loss.

I look at what your cells are doing, how deep the imbalance has gone, and which systems are still capable of repair.

Once you KNOW your level, you know what to do and....you know what not to do.
👉That is the part almost everyone misses.

Let’s look at the six levels of health loss through the lens of physiology, biochemistry, and laboratory science.

⚙️ Level 1️⃣

Regulation is altered, but structure remains normal. The hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenals are slightly misfiring, and mitochondria are inefficient.

The wrong thing to do is:
Detox, fast, or use aggressive supplements. The body needs regulation, not stimulation.

The right thing to do is:
Reestablish rhythm. Support minerals, hydration, sleep, blood sugar, and mitochondrial cofactors. Strengthen the nervous system before deeper interventions.

The lab levels that confirm this:
• Organic Acids: low citrate, mild lactate rise, low alpha-ketoglutarate
• Cortisol rhythm: slightly flattened curve
• Metabolomix+: low B2, B3, B6, low glutathione
• Amino acids: low tyrosine or tryptophan

🔥 Level 2️⃣

The immune system has now entered the conversation. Cytokines rise, Phase I liver enzymes accelerate, and oxidative stress begins.

The wrong thing to do is:
Suppress inflammation, fast aggressively, or force calorie restriction.

The right thing to do is:
Modulate inflammation. Open drainage, support the liver, provide antioxidants, and reduce immune load.

The lab levels that confirm this:
• hs-CRP 1–3 mg/L
• Ferritin elevated or fluctuating
• Homocysteine 9–11 µmol/L
• GI Effects: elevated sIgA or mild dysbiosis
• Lipid peroxides and 8-OHdG trending up

🩸 Level 3️⃣

The body begins to store what it cannot clear. Detox slows, bile thickens, and lymph stagnates.

The wrong thing to do is:
Push detox or weight loss. The routes of elimination are blocked.

The right thing to do is:
Drain before detox. Support bile flow, conjugation, hydration, and minerals. Open liver, kidneys, and lymph.

The lab levels that confirm this:
• GGT > 25 U/L
• ALT or AST high-normal
• Beta-glucuronidase elevated
• RBC glutathione low
• Zinc, selenium, magnesium low

⚖️ Level 4️⃣

The disturbance is now inside the cells. Membrane transport and mitochondrial respiration weaken.

The wrong thing to do is:
Detox aggressively, fast, or over-exercise. The cell cannot generate enough ATP to process toxins.

The right thing to do is:
Rebuild cell membranes, restore mitochondrial cofactors, rebalance thyroid and adrenal communication, and repair intracellular signaling.

The lab levels that confirm this:
• CoQ10 and carnitine low
• Succinate and malate low on Organic Acids
• Flattened cortisol, low DHEA
• Free T3 low, reverse T3 high
• ATP ratio low on mitochondrial testing

💔 Level 5️⃣

Enzymatic systems are failing, connective tissue is deteriorating, and structural integrity is compromised.

The wrong thing to do is:
Chase symptoms or stimulate metabolism with hormones or extreme diets.

The right thing to do is:
Rebuild. Provide amino acids, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants. Support connective tissue and restore protein synthesis.

The lab levels that confirm this:
• Persistent AST/ALT elevation
• LDH > 180 U/L
• Albumin < 4 g/dL
• Elevated BUN and creatinine
• Oxidized LDL, high Lp(a), low HDL-P
• Global amino acid depletion

🧬 Level 6️⃣

Regulation is lost. DNA repair and methylation fail. The body’s control systems are disorganized.

The wrong thing to do is:
Use aggressive detox or high-intensity therapies. The terrain cannot handle the stress.

The right thing to do is:
Restore the terrain gently. Support methylation, oxygenation, antioxidants, immune surveillance, and mitochondrial biogenesis.

The lab levels that confirm this:
• Elevated 8-OHdG (DNA damage)
• Low SAMe, high SAH
• Elevated NF-κB, TNF-α, VEGF
• Glutathione peroxidase and catalase low
• Mitochondrial DNA mutations or deletions present

✨ Why this matters

Because I understand these six levels, I never guess.

I don’t detox a body that can’t drain.
I don’t fast a patient whose adrenals are flat.
