Delores (Pauly) Paney-Clark, 95, of Wichita, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Sunflower Z Homes, in Garden Plain.

A Rosary will be held Monday, January 5 at 6PM and Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, January 6 at 10:30AM, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Clonmel, KS. Interment in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Delores was born November 20, 1930 to Werner P. Orth and Margaret (Halfmann) Orth on what was known as the Forsha Ranch near Castleton, KS.

She attended grade school in Andale, and later moved with her family to a home near Conway Springs where she graduated from Conway Springs High School.

On December 28, 1949, Delores was united in marriage to Donald Francis Pauly at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs. They made their home near Clonmel where they raised their family. Delores worked side by side with Don in operating Don’s Packing House from 1955 to 1967. She also worked hard helping Don with the family farming. She was active in St. John’s Altar Society and other parish activities. Don preceded her in death on May 10, 1976.

Delores later married Sylvester “Ves” Paney. She moved to his farm north of St. Joe, Ost, where she helped with the farming and cattle operations. Ves preceded her in death in February of 1999.

Later she married Paul Clark of Wichita, KS and lived in west Wichita, for 23 yrs until moving to the care home in October 2025. Paul preceded her in death of April 2013.

Delores was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Pete Orth, and her sister Armella Pohl; daughter Cathy Howell; and five grandchildren.

Delores is survived by her children, Connie (Jim) Armour of Clearwater, KS, Marsha (Barry) Rudy of the Villages, FL, Dennis (Lynette) Pauly of Greensburg, KS, Faye (Gary) Ast of Conway Springs, KS, Lisa (Larry) Hastings of Clearwater, KS, Randy (Alma) Pauly of Viola, KS; step-daughter Patty Clark and step-son Alan Clark, both of Wichita.

She is also survived by 40 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and dear friends.

Delores found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially a good card game, the company of friends, and indulging in her sweet tooth. She loved chocolate and held a special fondness for cardinals and the color red, which always brought her comfort and joy. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to God and to her family. Her warm and friendly smile will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (Building Fund) 18630 W. 71st St S, Viola, KS 67149, or to support Masses offered in her memory.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers who helped Delores remain at home as long as possible, and the staff at Sunflower Z Homes for bringing joy and laughter to her final months.

Gary B. Ward, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Parker, Colorado.

Gary Bruce Ward was born April 12, 1940, in the Masonic Hospital in Cherokee, Oklahoma to the proud parents of Raymond Verone and Virginia Rose (Bright) Ward.

Gary graduated from Carmen High School in 1958. Upon graduation he went to Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma for two years. He had to put his studies on hold for health reasons. While recuperating, he worked in customer service at the W.W. Starr Lumber Company Carmen, OK.

In 1962, Gary moved to Denver, CO to work on the missile bases for Eby Construction Company out of Buckley Air Force Base doing finish interior work.

Gary began dating Sherilyn Frech of Carmen, OK, which sparked a long distance relationship. In fall of 1962, he moved to Wichita, Kansas and began working for Eby Construction at a job site in Norwich doing timekeeping and cost accounting for the job site. While in Wichita, Gary would travel every weekend from Wichita to Carmen to see Sherilyn.

Gary and Sherilyn were married on September 12,1964, at the Carmen United Methodist Church, in Carmen, OK. After the wedding, the couple lived in Denver, CO and Gary continued working for Eby Construction until he was hired by Ken R. White Company, a company built elevators all over the country. While working there, Gary decided to take a drafting course at a Denver vocational school.

In 1966, Gary was hired by Tools for Bending in Denver, where he was a drafting and tool designer. Tools for Bending manufactured aircraft and automobile tubing parts that were mainly sold to manufacturers in Detroit, Michigan. Gary worked here for 10 years. While living in Colorado, the couple was blessed with the birth of two children, their daughter Monica and son Roger.

In 1974, the family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, after Gary took a job with Pearl Equipment Company where he sold tools, tube bending machines and cut-off saws to manufacturing companies. The couple lived in Nashville for four years. During his travels selling machines to manufacturers, Gary became acquainted with Duraform, a manufacturing company in Clearwater, Kansas. Wanting to be closer to family, the couple decided to relocate to Kansas.

In 1978, Gary and Sherilyn moved their family to Clearwater, KS. Gary took a job with Bend Rite where he specialized in tool bending and building parts. In 1981, Gary went to work for Southern Kansas Telephone Company as an engineering assistant for plant operations. He worked at SKT until 2006 when he retired after 25 years of service. While living in Clearwater, the couple were active members of the Clearwater United Methodist Church where Gary served on several boards and volunteered on many mission trips. He was also an active member of the Clearwater Lions Club.

In October of 2025, the couple moved into the Dove Estates in Goddard, Kansas and both were enjoying the company of many friends and all the activities offered.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Virginia Ward; an infant brother Jerry, sister, Rennie Ann Jones, and sister-in-law Tish Ward. He is survived by his wife Sherilyn; daughter Monica (Greg) Mikesell of Parker, CO; son Roger of Goddard, KS, three grandchildren Mallory, Marlee and Madox Mikesell, brother Terry Ward and sister-in-law Shari Boelke, and brother-in-law Kenny Jones.

Funeral: Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at The Clearwater United Methodist Church, 130 N, 1st St., Clearwater, KS, 67026.

Joan (Beil) Hillmann, age 78, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at her home.

She was born August 2, 1947 in Dodge City, KS. The daughter of Louis A. and Imogene (Evans) Beil. A long time resident of Clearwater, she was a secretary and co-owner of HPCI and J&H Storage, LLC.

She was an avid sports fan, of Nascar (Dale Earnhardt), KU Jayhawks, and KC Chiefs were among her favorites.
On April 28, 1973, she married Horst Michael Hillmann in Maize, KS.

Survived by devoted husband, Horst Hillmann of Clearwater, KS; son, Shawn (Christina) Houston of Clearwater, KS; stepson, Michael Hillmann of Joplin, MO; stepdaughter, Michelle Snyder of Grove, OK; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Carl) Conley of Clearwater, KS; sister-in-law, Veldiva Beil of Spearville, KS.

Bette Ann Vanderhoff (née Campbell) passed into the arms of her Savior on the morning of November 28, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love of family at her home in Wichita, Kansas.

Bette was born on September 14, 1939, in Daytona Beach, Florida to Betty and Alex Campbell.

On May 17, 1957, Bette married the love of her life, Albert William “Bill” Vanderhoff, in Wichita, Kansas. Their union, grounded in love and partnership, marked the start of 57 years spent building a family, a farm, and a life rooted in God and community.

Bette Ann will be remembered for her gentle strength, her steadfast faith, and her extraordinary ability to love others without reservation. She leaves behind a family who will carry her light forward, a church community enriched by her service, and countless friends blessed by her hospitality and kindness.

While our hearts grieve the loss of her presence, we rejoice that she is now at home in heaven.

Bette is survived by daughters Vikki Stone and Terri Curtis; brother Dick Campbell; grandchildren Jenny Dejmal‑Schmidt (Nickolai), David Dejmal (Amber), Rachel Gardner (Mickey), and Ryan Dejmal (Christine); and 12 cherished great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill Vanderhoff; son-in-law Bill Stone; granddaughter Laura Dejmal; brothers Fred Campbell, Bob Campbell, and John Campbell; and her sister June Brown.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday December 5, 2025, 10AM at Bethel Life Center; 3777 S Meridian in Wichita, Kansas. The family invites those who knew and loved Bette to join us in honoring her memory through song, fellowship, and the sharing of treasured stories.

Upon graduating from Friends University with a Bachelors in Agriculture, Jack worked for the Agricultural Soil Conservation Service. He then became manager of Quality Coop Oil Company of Clearwater, KS. In 1975 he left there to farm full time. At age 65 he adopted new farming practices and embraced technology well ahead of industry peers. He was truly an innovative and creative farmer! Beyond his passion for farming, Jack was an active member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church and Lion’s Club contributing service to his fellow man in a variety of ways.

Preceded in death by parents, James and Ina (Montz) Bates; siblings, Artis Morris, Arlene Bates, and Jerry Bates.
