Florida may not have harsh winters, but even a few colder days can impact our seniors more than we realize.

As we head into cooler mornings and chilly evenings, here are a few ways to help keep our senior loved ones warm & well:

• Dress in layers — sweaters, light jackets, warm socks
• Keep blankets close by for naps or TV time
• Maintain indoor temps between 68°–72°
• Encourage warm beverages — tea, broth, cocoa
• Watch for signs of the body working harder in cool temperatures (fatigue, shivering, confusion)
• Chronic conditions like heart disease or COPD can be triggered by cold weather — even mild cold
