Morton Plant Mease Foundation Morton Plant Mease Foundation provides philanthropic support to the not-for-profit hospitals of Morto

Over the last 25 years, the Morton Plant Mease Foundation has granted over $200 million. To put your gift in perspective, our hospitals would have to earn close to $2 billion at a 5 percent margin to net the amount that the more than 7,000 donors have collectively contributed.

It's an exciting day at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican!
Today we launch a special partnership with Gainbridge®, The ANNIKA, and BayCare Health System, titled ‘Kicks for a Cause.’
Nine pediatric patient-designed custom golf shoes will be worn by athletes, Annika Sörenstam and her family, Pelican Golf Club staff and Gainbridge ambassadors during The ANNIKA Pro-Am. The patients’ original work has been transposed onto the shoes by artist Laced by Liv, bringing each design and story to life in a unique way.
Kicks for a Cause will amplify the stories of BayCare’s young patients by showcasing their creativity in bringing awareness to BayCare’s pediatric services, BayCare Kids.
Following the Pro-Am, Annika’s custom-designed shoes will be auctioned off to charity, with proceeds benefiting our Foundation’s Birdies for Babies program, helping to provide compassionate care for BayCare Kids’ local pediatric patients. The auction will be live through Sunday, Nov. 16 and is open now : https://qtego.us/l/mortonplantmease/items/silent

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Golf & Racquet Sports Tournament last week! We had 167 participants and raised over $226,000 for Dr. George Morris Earn As You Learn Nursing Program (EAYL). EAYL students receive a need-based scholarship to help relieve the financial pressures related to working, going to school and providing for their families. Since its beginning, more than 2,000 students have benefited from this support.

We are so pleased to continue Birdies for Babies and this incredible partnership with The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican! Your philanthropy helps us take care of our tiniest and most precious patients.🍼⛳💙

The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican and BayCare Health System are proud to launch the Birdies for Babies charitable program for the 2025 championship. For every birdie and eagle made during tournament play, donations will benefit the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation, supporting infant health care at BayCare’s Mease Countryside and Morton Plant hospitals.

Fans can also get involved at the BayCare Long Putt Challenge on Hole 12, where every made 30-foot putt adds another $100 to the cause.

Bridgette Bello, publisher of Tampa Bay Business & Wealth Magazine, recently shared with us her powerful journey filled with resilience, hope, and unexpected strength.

2017 was a year that tested every part of Bridgette’s strength. Within months, her husband’s job was eliminated, her family was displaced from their home by Hurricane Irma, and she received a breast cancer diagnosis.
Her journey began with an abnormal mammogram. Bridgette was referred to the Susan Cheek Needler Breast Center at Morton Plant Hospital. Further testing confirmed she would need a lumpectomy followed by weeks of radiation treatment.

The next challenge was to find the right surgeon. Ernestine Morgan, her friend and the former CEO and President of Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation, recommended Dr. Peter Blumencranz. Bridgette remembered meeting him six years earlier when his daughter’s artwork had been chosen for the cover of Book of Lists. Walking into his office and seeing that very piece of artwork on the wall, she felt an unexpected peace and felt that it was a sign she was exactly where she was meant to be.

Her surgery was performed at Morton Plant Hospital with Dr. Blumencranz’s colleague, Dr. Kathleen Allen. After a successful procedure, she endured radiation treatment twice daily, eight hours apart.

As a trusted figure in the community, Bridgette’s cancer journey was not private. In fact, her then teenage daughter shared updates on social media. She embraced her vulnerability and felt it was important to be honest about her treatment and progress. Bridgette believes this exposure allowed people to turn to her as a resource for their own personal cancer diagnosis.

Today, Bridgette continues to refer friends and colleagues to Morton Plant Hospital, proudly stating, “I’m your biggest fan.” Despite the challenges, she describes her cancer care as seamless made possible by a care team who provided a clear path and surrounded her with extraordinary, compassionate care.

On July 18, Bridgette celebrated eight years cancer free. Her journey, marked by courage and resilience, is one she shares to give hope to others who find themselves on the same path.
