TESTING THE WATERS!

Greetings to all!

For those of you who know my heart, it will likely come as no surprise that I miss making a contribution, helping people, being of service in the ways that I am able. Divinely inspired, I trust, friends of mine recently asked if I have considered doing webinars (shout out to Brian and Patty!). In fact, I have been ruminating over how to best use the 40+ years of experience in the alternative health care world (and now more than 70 years on this planet!) to continue offering something of value to anyone who might be interested. Consequently, I request feedback from those who read or watch my occasional posts. Would you be interested in joining me in exploring ways to meet the challenges of living life in these complex times? If so, read on. If not, thanks for making it this far.

My thoughts on the matter:

1. In addition to the platform The Miracle Is You, I have long mulled over the concept of The Simple Truth About Health. Indeed, I have even owned that domain name for years. The tagline to that title is, Exploring the Ions of Wellness. By IONS, I am referring to words that end in -ION such as ambulation, mastication, respiration. So, using these three words as examples, I would explore things that you might not readily consider about the importance of how you walk (ambulate), how and why to chew your food (masticate) and the more inspirational (see what I did there?) aspects of breathing. I have a long list of -ION words to explore.

2. Topics that tie into The Miracle Is IN You - again, continuing my offerings of inspirational aspects of the human body, created in the image of God and how that relates to your everyday life, bringing it all back to Scriptural references and Biblical principles.

3. Condition specific topics - breaking down and simplifying what we can do to mitigate or prevent the impact of living in the physical world. You might have noticed, none of us is getting out of here alive and the physical realm is fraught with challenges. We would explore these individually.

4. This for that - you might have read one of my posts from a few years back wherein I addressed this in a somewhat humorous fashion. We are definitely programmed into constantly seeking, "out there" remedies for our ailments when, being "fearfully and wonderfully made", there are remedies already and always happening inside of us. Similarly to #3, we could explore remedies in light of how we were created and are being recreated with each breath.

But, those are just some of my thoughts. I WELCOME your input, suggestions, recommendations and requests. Ideas on formatting, times, frequency, etc. are invited.

I appreciate all of you and look forward to any feedback that you have to offer.

Blessings!

To follow up with the original post about "I think, therefore I am", here's the whole thread from AI in response to my prompt:

This is a thoughtful question because it touches philosophy, epistemology (how we know), and theology all at once. The short answer is: Descartes’ statement works as a philosophical starting point for human reasoning, but it does not align with the Biblical order of reality. From a Biblical perspective, something closer to “I am, therefore I think”—or even more accurately “God is, therefore I am (and can think)”—fits better with first-principles reasoning grounded in Scripture.
Let’s unpack this carefully.
1. What Descartes Was Actually Doing
The phrase “I think, therefore I am” (Cogito, ergo sum) comes from the philosopher René Descartes.
His goal was not theology but epistemic certainty. He attempted to doubt everything that could possibly be doubted—sense perception, the external world, even mathematics.
But he realized one thing could not be doubted:
If he is doubting, he is thinking.
If he is thinking, then a thinker must exist.
So the argument is:
Thinking proves the existence of the thinker.
This is essentially a minimal proof of personal existence.
From a first-principles standpoint
Descartes is attempting to identify the most indubitable starting point.
His first principle becomes:
Conscious thought → proves existence of the thinker
The problem is that this is a very narrow starting point. It begins with the human mind, not with ultimate reality.
2. First Principles Thinking
First principles thinking tries to start from the most fundamental truths that cannot be reduced further.
Good first principles typically have three traits:
Self-evident or foundational
Not dependent on another premise
Universally true
Descartes' claim partially qualifies, but it still assumes several things:
The reliability of logic
The coherence of identity
The existence of a thinking subject
These assumptions are not actually proven by the cogito itself.
So from strict first-principles analysis, Descartes begins too late in the chain—he begins with human cognition rather than the ground of existence itself.
3. The Biblical Order of Reality
The Bible consistently places existence before cognition.
Human thought is derivative, not foundational.
Examples:
Genesis 1:27
God created man in His own image.
Acts 17:28
“For in Him we live and move and have our being.”
Exodus 3:14
God identifies Himself as:
“I AM THAT I AM.”
This is a profound metaphysical statement.
God's identity is pure being, not derived from thought.
Biblical metaphysical order
God is
God creates
Humans exist
Humans think
So the Biblical chain is:
Being → Consciousness
not
Consciousness → Being
4. Why “I am, therefore I think” is closer to Biblical reasoning
If we reverse Descartes' statement:
I am, therefore I think
we align more closely with reality.
Because:
Existence makes thinking possible
Thinking does not create existence
A rock exists but does not think.
Therefore thinking cannot be the foundation of existence.
Instead:
Existence is the necessary condition for thought.
5. The Fully Biblical First Principle
Even “I am, therefore I think” still starts with the human self.
Biblical first principles go deeper.
The true metaphysical starting point is:
God is.
Everything else follows.
The Biblical chain would be:
God is (ultimate reality)
God creates being
Humans exist
Humans think because they bear God's image
So the most Biblically consistent reformulation might be:
God is, therefore I am. Because I am, I can think.
Or even more succinctly:
Being precedes thinking because the Creator precedes the creature.
6. Why This Matters Philosophically
Descartes unintentionally helped produce modern subjectivism because he started with the thinking self.
Many later philosophies built on that foundation:
Idealism
Rationalism
Postmodern relativism
Biblical metaphysics instead begins with objective reality grounded in God, not in the human mind.
This avoids the trap where truth becomes dependent on perception or cognition.
7. A Simple Comparison
Framework First Principle Order
Descartes Thinking proves existence Thinking → Being
Natural reality Existence enables thought Being → Thinking
Biblical worldview God is the source of being God → Being → Thinking
✅ Conclusion
Descartes' statement is clever but not a true first principle.
It begins with human cognition instead of ultimate reality.
From a Biblical perspective the order is:
God is → therefore I am → therefore I think.
or more simply:
Being precedes thinking.

Some of you, out there in the digital world, who have known me a long time, are aware that I got my Bachelor's degree in Philosophy. Of course, one cannot rightfully study philosophy without exposure to Descartes and one of his famous premises, "Cogito, Ergo Sum" (I think, therefore I am). Somehow, that has always been a conundrum for me, and more so recently with my "return to faith". I've wondered how it fits in with First Principles. Just as a 'thought experiment' today, I decided to put that conundrum in front of the disembodied thinker in the form of AI. For anyone who might have a spare moment and a hint of curiosity, here is the prompt that I used:
How does Descartes' statement 'I think, therefore, I am' measure up to first principles thinking and would it be more accurate, from a Biblical perspective, to say 'I am, therefore, I think'?

Check out the response in whatever version of AI you're using and let me know your thoughts.....🥰

Once you've watched my video and the linked video, contemplate this: The brain has 85 billion neurons (nerve cells) and 150 trillion synapses (connections), nearly a thousand times the number of stars in the Milky Way. If you tried to count all those synapses at the rate of one every second, it would take you 3 million years to complete the count.

Seems important to be attentive to how we steward the mind that emerges from the brain. Does the mind generate the brain or the brain generate the mind OR is it even more mystical, magical and miraculous than that?! Pay attention to where your attention is!

I definitely could not have said it better myself! This clip represents very well what my intent and my message has been from the beginning of my efforts to put out inspirational posts relative to The Miracle Is You! It does not matter your political beliefs, your religious beliefs, what race, creed, color or sexual orientation you are. Every one of us who is graced and blessed with a functioning nervous system processes information like this every second of every minute of every day that this DIVINE spark beats our heart and breathes us. The sooner that each and all of us can recognize the factual truth that we are all children of the Living God, the sooner we can find peace within ourselves which manifests as peace in the outer world. Psalm 139:14 "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." KJV "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." NIV Hallelujah! May you and yours be blessed this day.
