A 71-year-old man with metastatic prostate carcinoma is admitted to the hospitalist service from the ED for acute kidney injury and a sudden inability to bear weight on the left leg for the past 6 hours. He fell in the kitchen 3 days ago, but was able to continue ambulating without difficulty until just prior to the ED visit. Imaging reveals a left femoral head fracture and widespread skeletal metastases. After 4 days of IV fluids, and with cardiac clearance obtained, a left total hip arthroplasty is performed. Hematology-Oncology documents, "s/p THA for left femoral head fracture; the imaging aligns with our concern for worsening pelvic and rib metastases from his primary prostatic adenocarcinoma; holding chemo until stable, we will reassess oncological management in the office 48 hours post-discharge". The most valuable information to confirm prior to assigning an accurate principal diagnosis for this case is:

A. The POA status for acute kidney injury

B. The etiology of the femoral head fracture

C. The confirmation of secondary metastatic lesions at the femoral head

D. The current stage of the prostate adenocarcinoma and all metastatic sites
