I only share photos when families personally share them with me and give permission, and I will admit I have gotten a little bad about remembering to ask.

So I am especially grateful that this sweet family is allowing me to share their newest little cutie patootie with you all. 🄹

I mean isn’t he scrumptious!!!

He was the first of three babies to come earth side this week. šŸ’—

Natal Teeth: Tiny, Rare, and Honestly… So Cool 🦷✨

Did you know some babies are actually born with teeth?

These are called natal teeth, and while they’re rare, they do happen.
Natal teeth are teeth that are already present at birth (different from neonatal teeth, which erupt within the first 30 days of life).

What are they?

Most often, they’re just early-erupted baby teeth
Usually the lower front teeth.

Do they stay?

Sometimes yes… sometimes no.

Because natal teeth can be a little loose or underdeveloped, they may:
• stay in place if they’re stable
• fall out on their own
• or occasionally need to be evaluated if they’re very loose or causing feeding issues

Why do they matter?

They can be:
• totally harmless and just a fun little surprise
• associated with ni**le pain during breastfeeding
• irritating to baby’s tongue in some cases
• something to keep an eye on if they’re wobbly, because of aspiration risk

But can we just agree…

A baby being born with teeth is one of the coolest little reminders that birth and babies are never one-size-fits-all.

Nature really said:
ā€œHere’s your newborn… and surprise, they came with accessories.ā€ šŸ˜šŸ¦·

Phone System Update Effective February 6, 2026

We are transitioning to a new phone system to better direct patient calls and streamline care.

When calling the office, please listen carefully to the prompts and follow the instructions provided. It may sound like you have reached voicemail; this is part of the call routing system designed to connect you appropriately.

We are sharing this update so everyone is aware of the change. The new system helps minimize interruptions from telemarketers and non-patient calls when the midwife is actively with families, allowing for more focused, uninterrupted patient care.

Important reminders:
• Please always call if you have an urgent health concern or with reports of labor.
• Email through MobileMidwife remain the preferred and only encrypted methods for routine questions, scheduling, and billing. The midwife will reply within 24 hours and therefore this route of communication should not be used for urgent health concerns or reports of labor.
• Email for information: IcatchBabies@aol.com
• Text messaging is not encrypted and is not monitored 24/7 and should only be used for same day appointment rescheduling. Please do not send health information over text.
• For urgent concerns about your health or your baby, ALWAYS call your midwife directly

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue improving communication and supporting safe, attentive care for our families

Consider that community midwives attend home births, birth center births and often hospital births (in the event of a transfer). THEY ARE THE SPECIALIST OF PHYSIOLOGICAL BIRTH! When have you ever seen a doctor attend a home birth? šŸ§šŸ¤”

As a midwife, I have been blessed to witness birth in many forms; peaceful water births at home, triumphant VBACs, planned cesareans filled with intention and love, medicated hospital births, and incredible unmedicated births full of strength and surrender.

And here is what I know with my whole heart:
I don’t care how you birth.
I care that you felt informed, safe, supported, and respected every step of the way.

Whether you welcomed your baby in your living room surrounded by candlelight, in a hospital under bright lights, with an epidural, through cesarean, or in a moment of powerful instinct in nature; your birth is valid. Your birth is sacred.

Birth is not about proving anything.
It is not a competition or a standard to meet.

It is a deeply personal journey of strength, love, and vulnerability.

My prayer for every mother:
May your birth be one you look back on with peace, empowerment, and pride; knowing you were heard, honored, and held.

You deserved options.
You deserved support.
You deserved respect.

August 5th marked 20 years since I stepped into the world of midwifery.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of supporting families as they welcomed their babies at home, in birth centers, and in hospitals. My heart has always been to support families wherever they choose to bring their babies earthside. As a midwife, I strive to walk beside families through every part of their care and to support the choices that feel right for them.

This past year has been one of the busiest with the largest patient load our practice has ever seen. Through it all, I have been immeasurably blessed by the love, trust, and support of this incredible community.

Our gathering was not just a celebration of my 20 years in midwifery, but also a celebration of the families who have been part of this journey. Each of you holds a special place in my heart.

Thank you to each of you who donated toward the beautiful gift and the generous monetary contribution. Once again, I cannot explain how blessed I feel. Each of your names was written on the card, and I was so overwhelmed with gratitude as I read it (in front of a crowd of course!). Some of you know exactly who you are — we’ve walked through the thick of it together. And some of you were in my care when I was just a little baby midwife. (Due to hipaa I can’t tag you ladies in this post.)

I want to acknowledge every single one of you. This was such a surprise, and even if you couldn’t be present, I truly felt your love and presence in that moment.

I would have loved to have a bigger celebration and to invite every family who has touched my life over the past two decades. I’m so sorry we couldn’t include everyone this time; but with only a few weeks to plan, it was best to keep it small and simple. Especially considering that I delivered three babies during this very week, two in the days leading up to it, and one right after! šŸ’—

My heart is so full! Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Here’s to the next chapter, and to the families who continue to make this work such a gift. ā¤ļø

The big scary ā€œcord around the neckā€ scenario. It happens around 1/3 of the time and it is typically either slipped over the head as the head emerges or the ā€œnecklaceā€ is unraveled before the baby is lifted to mom’s chest.

Not nearly as scary as some would think. Please have this conversation with your provider if you have questions!

This baby also has the hand next to the face which can make mom work a little harder to get baby earthside.
