Please join us in welcoming Allison Mathews to Calming Corner Counseling! Allison will be working part-time, covering evenings and weekends, and will be supporting clients both in-person and through virtual visits.

She will begin accepting Aetna insurance in late November, and soon will also be accepting BCBS.

Allison brings 20+ years of experience supporting individuals through a variety of mental health challenges, and we’re thrilled to have her join our team to help clients on their journey to wellness.

Hey all! As the days grow shorter, many people may experience a depression at the same time every year. Seasonal Affect Disorder, SAD, is believed to be linked to less sunlight exposure and reduced serotonin. Symptoms include fatigue, depression, feeling hopeless, and withdrawal. If you are experiencing these symptoms, light therapy, talk therapy, and medication may support you. Other things you can do for yourself include spending time outside, going for a walk, getting regular exercise, and eating nutritious foods.

I'm so very excited to be in training for EMDR and can now provide this therapeutic treatment. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing. EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables
