March is Teen Mental Wellness Month
March is a time to intentionally focus on the emotional well-being of our teens. With more adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges, having open and honest conversations at home is more important than ever.
Recent data shows that many middle and high school students report feeling persistently sad, questioning their self-worth, or even wondering if life has meaning. Those numbers remind us that a lot of teens are carrying heavy emotional loads — often quietly.
Academic pressure, social dynamics, bullying, relationship stress, and challenges at home can all contribute. Our teens are navigating more than we sometimes realize.
As parents and caregivers, your role is powerful. You can support your teen by:
• Modeling healthy coping and self-care
• Building strong, safe relationships
• Encouraging positive peer connections
• Creating a stable and predictable home environment
• Keeping up with regular medical and mental health check-ins
Most importantly, talk to your teen. Take their feelings seriously. Listen without judgment. And remind them that asking for help is a sign of strength.
If you notice your teen struggling or you’re unsure how to support them, please reach out to me. You don’t have to navigate it alone.
