🧡 Clemson Recreational Therapy in Action!

Dr. Brandi Crowe (CU Recreational Therapy) teamed up with Dr. Karen Kemper (CU Public Health Sciences), Dr. Jessica Avilés (CU Industrial Engineering), Dr. Stephen Chen and his students (Bob Jones University), Susan Cannon (Bon Secours LifeWise Program), and Amanda Davis (Bon Secours Nursing) to provide fall risk screenings for community-dwelling older adults during the Bon Secours St. Francis Fall Prevention Event.

Over the past two weeks, PRTM 3230: Professional Preparation in RT Practice has been sharpening their interview skills with Mrs. Zikeya Hickman-Glanton.

✨ Last week, students took part in Speed Interviewing—a fun twist on “Speed Dating” where they practiced answering situational and behavioral questions using the STAR method, all within a set time before moving on to the next challenge.

✨ This week, they stepped it up with Mock Interviews! Dressed to impress and resumes in hand, students were interviewed by our very own PRTM faculty and staff: Dr. Bob Barcelona Jr., Dr. Brandi Crowe, Mrs. Ariel Bailey, Ms. Annette Parker, and Mr. Matt Whinghter.

🌟 Big things are happening in PRTM 4220! 🌟

Students in Dr. Jasmine Townsend’s Management of Recreational Therapy Services course are hard at work developing Written Plans of Operation (WPOs) for seven Parks & Recreation Departments across Upstate SC that currently don’t offer Recreational Therapy (RT) programs. 💡

The goal? To create a resource that can help Parks & Rec departments launch future RT programs and expand access to these much-needed services! 🙌

We can’t wait to see the impact these projects will have on the community. 💜
