TIPS for NON-TOXIC LAUNDRY DAYS

1. Make this amazing Thieves Laundry Detergent
What you will need:
32 oz Glass Mason Jar
Funnel
Measuring cup
Label of choice

10.5 oz of Thieves laundry detergent
3 capfuls of Thieves cleaner
15 drops of lemon essential oil
15 drops of purification essential oil
Distilled Water to fill remainder of jar

Directions:
Mark 10.5 oz with a sharpie on outside of glass. Fill jar with Thieves laundry detergent. Add Thieves cleaner and essential oils. Lastly, fill remainder of jar with distilled water. Gently shake to mix.

2. How to Soften Your Clothing
Simply add 1/4 cup of DISTILLED WHITE VINEGAR to the fabric softener dispenser or USE WOOL DRYER BALLS which reduces static and can lightly scent with DRYER BALL SPRAY (see my posts). Wool is naturally antibacterial making it awesome for using in the laundry. Place 3-4 wool dryer balls in with each load of laundry.

3. Clean Your Washing Machine
Soap residue and minerals etc can create build up over time and can trap bacteria so its important to clean your machine MONTHLY. Use your washer CLEANING CYCLE and don’t forget to clean the outside too!

4. Leave the Door/Lid of the Machine Open
Keeping it open for a period of time allows the inside of the basin to dry, preventing the growth of mold, mildew, and/or bacteria.

We hear people talk about using probiotics all the time, but maybe you aren’t sure exactly what they are? Well, probiotics deliver the “good” bacteria back into your digestive system to keep things working optimally.

There are many varieties of probiotics on the market today, and there are also a wide variety of qualities. When using a probiotic, you want to be sure the probiotic is made up of an active or live strain!!!

Awesome money-saving DIY!
CLOROX-FREE THIEVES CLEANING WIPES
Ingredients
•1/2 roll of Viva paper towel
• 2 cups water
• 1 capful Thieves Cleaner

Directions
Cut roll of paper towel in half with a cerated knife and place one half in a reusable plastic container with a lid. Mix 2 cups water and 1 capful of Thieves Cleaner together and pour over paper towels. Let sit for 1 hour then remove the cardboard from the center of the roll. Use wipes for counters, faucets, doorknobs, on the go, etc

Did you know you don’t have to clean with chemicals in your bathrooms? That holding your breath while you clean the shower isn’t normal?
It can be really hard to transition from chemicals = clean to plants = clean. Some haven’t even given it a thought I imagine. We use what’s on the supermarket shelves because they wouldn’t sell us anything unsafe, would they? But when we know, we want to make sure that more natural ways actually work right? But y’know our grandmothers have been cleaning this way for years. Vinegar, bicarb, lemon. When did we start to overcomplicate things? As soon as it became more about the dollar than our health.

So no, I don’t have to hold my breath to clean my shower anymore!

Option 1:
-1-2 capful of plant-based Thieves cleaner
-20 extra drops of Clove (bye mold)
-Fill with water in a 500ml spray bottle

Option 2:
-30 drops of a combo of Clove, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus- for all the anti bac properties too if you don’t have Thieves cleaner
-1/4 cup vinegar
-3/4 cup of water

For extra oomp/grout cleaner- combine the above oils/Thieves cleaner with bicarb and a little water in a bowl, to make a soft scrub. Transfer to a jar.

Foaming Hand Soap FTW!

I don’t know why people buy foaming hand soap when it is sooo easy (and much more cost-effective) to make your own! It also would make a super easy gift! Tie a bow or a spruce sprig on it and you are set!

+30 drops Essential oil of choice
+Fill 1/4 of jar with unscented Castille soap
+Add 3 drops of Vitamin E oil
+fill rest with Distilled water
Add foaming hand soap dispenser and you are ready to go!

DIY Low Tox Dry Shampoo

Dry shampoo seriously has to be one of the easiest ways to keep your hair looking fresh and styled in-between washes! This recipe is my go-to. It is SO easy to put together, and keeps your hair feeling shiny and healthy without putting toxic buildup onto your scalp and hair! If you have never tried dry shampoo this is going to change your life.

For light hair:
3/4 cup arrowroot powder
3 drops lavender
3 drops rosemary
3 drops Cedarwood

For dark hair:
3/4 arrowroot powder
2 tbls raw cocoa powder
3 drops lavender
3 drops rosemary
3 drops Cedarwood

Tip: Use a powder non-aerosol spray bottle or condiment shaker with a perforated top for easy application.

Just a teensy drop of Rosemary can make your locks shine or Rosemary Vitality can make your marinade sizzle. I also like to add a few drops of the Vitality to about 1/4 cup of Himalayan Sea Salt for cooking. It makes food very flavorful. Give it a try!

Have you made the switch from dryer sheets to wool dryer balls? This was one of the first things we did when we got our oils and started working towards a cleaner lifestyle. Not so fun fact: dryer sheets contain harmful chemicals that adhere to your clothes & then rub off on your skin, which then can cause a handful of health issues including skin irritation, breathing problems and estrogen imbalance.
