Doula Care is essential care giving during times of need and may be ongoing for many years. To prepare during birth and postpartum periods we often offer caregiving and massage to community members who will never be able to afford care. Since much of my caregiving is paid out of pocket and not covered by insurance companies, we are left to cover the cost ourselves. This comes at a great loss to my work stability and my ability to support my family community in ways that I would like to. Please consider sharing and supporting this community fund for Birthing people in Cleveland, Toledo and Columbus to expand access in gender affirming, trauma informed care, with cultural competency and advanced skills in Mexican midwifery practices including rebozo, womb care/sobada education.

The seeds of cultivation were given to the people to plant for food, while the berries and to***co were given to the animals to plant for use by both."

This month, we are grateful that we have the opportunity to share the story of Jessica Valleo, a wellness practitioner and birth keeper who offers traditional family support at Sacred Spaces 216, a Cooperative Wellness Center in Cleveland, Ohio on behalf of the Committee of 500 Years of Dignity and Resistance.

November is National American Indian Heritage Month, and we join in paying tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans. Our city of Toledo is located on the ancestral homelands of the Erie, Kickapoo, Odawa, and Seneca. Hence, we acknowledge and honor the lives of Indigenous peoples and thank them for their resilience in the city where we now reside.

Vigil for Our Little Angels...

Today we begin our candlelight vigil to await the visit of our babies and children who left us too soon. In some communities, their journey to visit and enjoy their special ofrendas with us begins at noon and in others at midnight. They will spend all night then begin leaving at midnight on November 1st to return to the heart of Creator.
