Our Story
Napa Valley's first and only traditional Ashtanga Yoga shala.
We teach in the traditional “Mysore Method” of Ashtanga Yoga, which means each student receives INDIVIDUAL and PERSONAL attention from the teacher in a group setting. Every student is different in body and mind and Yoga is a very personal practice. In this method of Yoga students learn and move at their own pace - they are not required to keep up with a class or “perform” postures they are not yet ready for. Yoga postures (asana) and breathing techniques (pranayama) are introduced to each student in a progressive manner - only increasing in challenge as the student becomes ready. This progression could be over the course of 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 years - it all depends on the student. By learning in this method, students build strength, flexibility and awareness in a healthy and sustainable fashion.
Mysore Ashtanga Yoga is for ALL students. Beginners, seasoned practitioners, and students who may be in recovery from injury, trauma, health issues and even substance abuse. The practice is transformational - and with consistent practice the benefits attained are limitless.
