This week is for US.

For the mamas navigating pregnancy, postpartum, healing, and everything in between — especially when it feels like no one sees the weight you carry.

Black Maternal Mental Health Week is a reminder that your mental health matters just as much as your physical health. That your feelings are valid. That you deserve care that listens, supports, and uplifts you.

šŸ’” Did you know?
– Black women are twice as likely to experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)
– Yet they are half as likely to receive treatment
– Systemic racism, stigma, and lack of culturally competent care all contribute to gaps in care and drive unfavorable outcomes for mom and baby

We deserve better — and we’re claiming it. Let’s keep holding space for Black moms to rest, be real, and be well — not just this week, but always. šŸ’›šŸ–¤šŸ’œ

Happy Father’s Day šŸ’™
To the dads who show up.
To the ones we miss.
To those who are still waiting to become fathers.
And to anyone holding both joy and grief today—
You are seen, you are honored.

During the perinatal period, LGBTQIA+ parents often face higher rates of depression, anxiety, and discrimination, but too often, their stories are left out of the conversation.

Le***an and bisexual mothers experience a greater risk of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Gay fathers report less positive feelings about early parenthood—and research on their experiences is still scarce. Trans and non-gestational parents face unique emotional and systemic barriers, including stigma, isolation, and lack of inclusive care.

šŸ—£ļø Affirming care matters!! Avoiding or ignoring sexual and gender identity in perinatal spaces does harm. Perinatal mental health support should be safe, inclusive, and affirming for everyone. 🌈

Today, we celebrate the strength, love, and resilience of mothers in all forms. Whether you’re parenting little ones, remembering a child, yearning to become a mother, or mothering in your own unique way—your role matters.

Motherhood is not one-size-fits-all, and today we honor every journey.

Thank you for all the ways you show up, give love, and keep going. šŸ¤

Happy Mother’s Day! šŸ’

This week marks Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (May 5–11), a time to shine a light on the emotional journeys of mothers and birthing people. The Blue Dot Project šŸ”µ reminds us that perinatal mental health disorders are the #1 complication of childbirth, affecting 1 in 5 mothers.

The blue dot symbolizes solidarity and hope—a reminder that no one should navigate this path alone. Whether you’re a parent, partner, friend, or healthcare provider, your support matters. ļæ¼

šŸ’™ Let’s break the silence, challenge stigma, and ensure every parent feels seen and supported. ļæ¼

Today, we hold space for the mothers whose arms ache and whose hearts carry love that cannot be seen. Bereaved Mother’s Day honors the invisible motherhood of those who have experienced loss—whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant or child loss, or any path that made you a mother in grief. You are not forgotten. Your love is real. Your story matters. We see and hear you.

Black Maternal Health Week was created by to amplify the voices and concerns of Black mamas, bring visibility to Black-led maternal health initiatives and center the values and traditions of reproductive and birth justice movements.

Black Maternal Health Week isn’t just about pregnancy, it’s about the entire journey into motherhood. From prenatal care to postpartum healing, mental health support is essential!

Black women are less likely to receive proper postpartum care and are more at risk for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Yet, many go undiagnosed and unsupported.

What can you do?
āœ”ļø Advocate for better policies & healthcare practices
āœ”ļø Support Black-led maternal health organizations
āœ”ļø Check in on the Black moms in your life—emotionally, physically, and socially

We want to create a world where Black Mamas THRIVE, not just survive. šŸ’œ

I am eternally grateful to have found and be part of such a warm, supportive community with the . šŸ«¶šŸ¾

Last year, I attended my first conference and I found myself affirmed and truly seen within the space the Alliance created for us. If I was unsure of my path before in helping Black mothers to find and lead more fulfilled lives where they don’t have to carry the needs of everyone else above their own, it sure clicked then!

Fast forward several months and I am part of the inaugural Alliance Fellowship, diving deeper into the research surrounding perinatal mental health and I could not be more excited!! 🤩

The opportunity and allows us to expand upon will be impactful for so many who work with and for this space. I can’t wait to share our findings with you all!
