This past week, our Director, Ginger Worthington, joined directors from pregnancy resource centers across Mississippi at the State Capitol to meet with legislators and advocate for the vital work we do.

We were honored to engage in meaningful discussions with Attorney General Lynn Fitch, a steadfast supporter of pregnancy resource centers and a strong advocate for the sanctity of life.

Pictured are several directors alongside Attorney General Fitch, working together to encourage legislative support for the resources and care we provide to women and their preborn babies.

We are deeply grateful for the dedication of these leaders and policymakers who champion life and work to ensure that women in our communities receive the care and support they deserve.

Let's discuss our favorite topic... BABIES!!!

Let's break down what happens from week 1 to week 26, complete with visuals!

Week 1: Conception, or fertilization, usually occurs about two weeks after the start of the last menstrual period.

Week 2: The fertilized egg moves through the fallopian tubes toward the uterus.

Week 3: The fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus in a process called implantation.

Week 5: The neural tubes form, which will develop into the brain and spinal cord. The embryo also attaches to a yolk sac that provides nourishment.

Week 6: The baby's heart begins to beat, and buds start to form that will become the arms and legs!

For visuals and additional information about what happens in the following weeks, click on each photo to see the baby's remarkable growth throughout the pregnancy!

Feel free to leave any questions you might have or reach out to us!

All our volunteers receive training and regular updates on how to assist you when you walk through our doors.

Recently, our volunteers and director spent the morning training with Sheila Zeda, the Pregnancy Line National Trainer with CareNet, one of our partner organizations. They focused on learning different ways to respond to abortion-determined callers over the phone, communicate the benefits of visiting our center, and support male callers. The training emphasized not only discussing these topics but also handling them with care and compassion. We strive to provide the best care for the women and male partners we encounter during this significant time in their lives.

We greatly appreciate each volunteer for taking the time to learn and grow alongside others in the same field by attending these trainings.

Thank you to all our volunteers. It truly takes a village, and we are fortunate to have a fantastic one!

Meet our wonderful director at the center, Ginger Worthington, who is currently in her fifth year of service as director! Her tremendous dedication to helping the women who walk through our doors is outstanding, and her compassion for everyone she meets is truly inspiring. Here’s a little more about Ginger:

Tell us a little about yourself:
“I have been married to my husband, John Worthington, for 29 years. We have three children and one precious grandson. I am a retired educator and enjoy working in my yard whenever I have the time.”

How did you come to your job at the Women’s Resource Center?
“I started as a board member. After retiring from the public education system, I stepped down from the board and began working as the client services coordinator. I became the director of the Women’s Resource Center in November 2020.”

What are some of your job responsibilities?
“I wear many hats, including overseeing the day-to-day operations of the center, fundraising, event planning, marketing, educating the Delta area about our services, speaking at churches and organizations, and meeting with our clients.”

What is your favorite part about working at the Women’s Resource Center?
“My favorite part is having the opportunity to share Jesus with women who initially seek an abortion but ultimately choose life for their babies. It is such a sweet feeling when someone decides to choose life. It’s even more special when I'm in the room with them during an ultrasound and we see that precious little one dancing in their mother’s womb!”

What do you want women to know when they first walk through the doors of the center?
“We are here to provide compassion and care.”

Thank you for all that you do Ginger!!
