You probably saw the last post with the Barrow. If you don’t have the freezer space I still have an amazing opportunity to support another Cass county youth exhibitor. There is an awesome gilt available with loads of potential in a breeding string.

Lilly and Hannah both took on the challenge of the swine project this year. Lilly, has worked with this gilt all summer. Countless hours in the barn. This gilt seriously has some potential to get you going in any direction you want. Not only does Lilly participate in the swine project but this kid works her tail off showing horses as well. Her and her sister Hannah really had a lot going on in ALL of their projects this year. This gilt has finished top 3 in all the classes she’s been in throughout the summer. At jackpots, and county fairs alike. Lilly got her first swine banner this year with Harriet winning grand champion first year swine showman!

“Harriet” is a registered Berkshire gilt, her momma was the grand champion at the MSF in 2016. Born December 8th 2023. She’s ready to go and looking for a boar. Take her and start your own berk program, take her and grow some feeder piglets with her. She’s tall fronted, and an easy mover. She’s got a great disposition, I’ve never had to assist her momma with farrowing and never have had an issue with her taking care of piglets.

She is available NOW, papers in hand. I have videos of her at county fair that I’ll post in the comments. I can answer any questions about her.

Meet “Tank” and Hannah . This is her first year enrolled in the swine project for our local 4H club. Last December Hannah came out to the farm and picked tank out of the farrowing crate and the rest was history. These two have grown all summer and had a blast. Tank has spent the summer being spoiled by his girl, and ending in the top halves of his classes at each show we’ve been to this year. Fast forward to county fair and the hard work has paid off! Hannah, finally got to walk off with a reserve champion first year showmanship award, and a second in her market class. If you know anything about showing livestock, showmanship is won at home. I’ve been over to their place multiple times to check in and you can’t ever find this kid because she’s out working with her hogs!

Tank is registered Berkshire and in my opinion, that’s one of the best eating breeds. He is available as a whole hog, or find a friend and split for a half. He weighs in right at about 290lbs. He has an appointment at Woodward in Archie for processing on August 20th. I have a cut sheet you can fill out to get all the delicious chops, steaks, and bacon.
