🍕 Cooking Demo with Liz: Pizza Puffs Edition! 🍕

Our Kitchen Director Liz fired up a delicious cooking demo, and it was a huge hit! Residents watched as she showed us how to make pizza puffs—crispy on the outside, warm and cheesy on the inside, and totally customizable.

We sampled:
✨ Chicken Pesto Bites
✨ Supreme Bites
✨ Classic Pepperoni
✨ And lots of other tasty combinations!

Between the smells, the samples, and Liz’s expert tips, this demo was equal parts educational and delicious. We love learning new recipes that spark conversation, creativity, and a few happy taste buds!

Gingerbread House Decorating Contest was a sweet success!

Our residents had the best time getting creative with icing, candy, and lots of holiday cheer. From classic designs to over-the-top candy creations, every house was made with love—and maybe a little extra sugar

The laughter, teamwork, and festive spirit made it such a great time for everyone involved. Moments like these are what make our Avail family so special.

🎉 Happiest 103rd Birthday to our beautiful Wilda Trew! 🎉

Today at Avail, we had the honor of celebrating a truly remarkable woman. Wilda turned 103 years young, and her smile is still as bright as ever!

Born in 1922, Wilda arrived in a world that looked very different from today. Here are a few amazing things happening the year she was born:

🗞️ History in the making:
• The Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸
• Insulin was first used to treat diabetes, changing medicine forever.
• America saw the birth of the Reader’s Digest magazine.
• The first successful aircraft carrier landing took place on the USS Langley.
• The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles opened its doors for the very first time. 🎶

💵 A little perspective…
• A loaf of bread cost 7 cents.
• A brand-new car averaged around $525.
• And the average American salary was just $1,300 a year!

Wilda has lived through 103 years of history, change, innovation, and countless memories, and we are so blessed that her story is part of ours. 💕

🧡🍂 A Heartfelt Thanksgiving 🍂🧡

We may have celebrated a week early, but the love, laughter, and gratitude we shared could last all season. Our Avail family gathered around the table with the people who mean the most—our wonderful residents and their loved ones—and it filled our building with warmth that words can hardly capture.

Thank you to every family who joined us. Your presence, your hugs, your smiles, and the joy you brought into our home made this Thanksgiving feast truly special. Seeing our residents surrounded by the people they love reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

It’s always a busy time at Avail, but we recently slowed things down and gathered around the fire for s’mores and sweet conversation.
There’s just something about a warm fire, melted chocolate, and good company that makes an evening feel extra special.

🌸 Thank You, Hearth Hospice! 🌸

Today our friends from Hearth Hospice brought the most beautiful flowers and vases for our residents, and we spent the morning creating gorgeous flower arrangements together.

It was an absolute hit! The room was filled with color, conversation, and so many smiles. We are so grateful for partners who bring joy, creativity, and connection to our community.

Thank you, Hearth Hospice, for brightening our day in every way!

🥒 We’re still feeling brined and divine after National Pickle Day! 🥒

Our residents had an absolute blast taste-testing ALL things pickle on Friday. From pickle chips to pickle cashews, pickled carrots, pickle peanuts, mingles, and of course… PICKLES, PICKLES, PICKLES! 🥒💚

There wasn’t a sour face in the house — just lots of laughs, crunching, and a few new pickle lovers made along the way.
