🌟 What an amazing start to the month! 🌟

At The Bridge, we’re learning about making healthy food choices all month long—because every choice we make helps shape the life we want to live. 🍎🥦

But we know this: not everyone has the privilege of choosing what goes on their plate. That’s why today, our Bridge family came together to donate canned vegetables to the Helping Hands Food Bank. 💛

Because this is who we are at The Bridge:
✨ We restore hope.
✨ We model possibilities.
✨ We make an impact—one act of kindness at a time.

Here’s to a month of healthy choices, open hearts, and helping hands! 🙌💚

Introducing yourself. Making eye contact. Shaking hands.
To some, these seem like simple social tasks—but for many neurodivergent young adults, these moments can feel overwhelming or confusing.

Research shows that neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism or ADHD, may experience challenges with interpreting social cues, initiating conversations, and engaging in reciprocal interactions. That doesn’t mean they can’t develop these skills—it means they need the right support to thrive.

👉 This month, we’re focusing on building real-world social skills to help our participants live more independent and productive lives. Whether it’s practicing introductions, learning to read body language, or role-playing everyday social scenarios, our goal is to equip our young adults with the confidence and tools they need to connect with others.

🌟 Social success isn’t about fitting into a mold—it’s about learning in ways that work for each individual.

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month 💙❤️💛🧠

At the intersection of race, IDD, and mental health are stories that too often go unseen, unheard, and unsupported.

Being a person of color with IDD and mental health challenges doesn’t make you less — it makes your journey uniquely powerful. Your voice matters. Your experiences are valid. Your healing is revolutionary.

Too often, stigma and silence make our communities suffer in the dark. But we’re here to shine light, restore hope, and model possibilities.

🗣️ This month, we honor the strength it takes to live boldly at the intersections. We commit to listening deeper, supporting stronger, and building a world where inclusion means everyone.

The first cuts won't hit immediately, but people on Medicaid, including those with disabilities, fear they could experience significant setbacks under the "big, beautiful bill."

The R-word isn’t just outdated, it’s harmful.

Too many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have grown up hearing it used as a punchline, insult, or a label to dismiss and dehumanize them.

In our newest blog, people share the real impact this word has had on their lives. Their stories are powerful, painful, and honest—and they show exactly why this word needs to go.

Read their words. Feel their lived experiences. And then make the choice to never use it again and to say something when others use it: https://bit.ly/46eCLLw

35 years ago, the ADA became law—and with it came a promise: that every person with a disability has the right to equal access and justice.

At DRMS, we work every day to fulfill that promise. Through legal advocacy, education, and individual representation, we break down barriers and push forward the goals of the ADA.
