I would like to thank SiteOne Landscape Supply for putting on "SiteOne University" this week in Lebanon, TN!

Speakers from Arborjet / Ecologel and University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, and BASF Agricultural Solutions among others, came out to educate local service providers in the green industry.

Thanks to them, we will be able to do our jobs more efficiently and with greater efficacy and safety.

It has been a challenging winter in SE TN, but it is almost over. Nothing like a sunny day by the water!

Potted trees need regular maintenance, but it can be easy!

I got to work on a customer's Japanese Maple, yesterday. It had been in the same pot for years, and it was overdue for a root pruning!

Pruning the roots of potted trees is critical to maintaining the health of the plant. When roots grow unchecked, they will wrap around and around the inside of their container. This is called girdling, and it causes overcrowding that stifles nutrient absorption and weakens the tree.

Periodic root pruning creates space for fresh soil, and for roots to grow in their pot, which allows the whole tree to thrive. It will also maintain the tree at an appropriate size for its container.
