ACS Labs - Headspace Technologies Company ACS Labs Co. was founded in 1985 as Headspace Technologies Company. It provided training and consulting to Headspace instrument manufacturers and their clients.

The company developed and published numerous methodologies and applications of headspace analysis to foods, fragrances, pharmaceuticals, petroleum, biological samples, variety of chemical streams, and many other complex matrices. The company also holds several patents for headspace analysis related instrumentation. In years, ACS Labs has extended its capabilities to Pyrolysis, Thermal desorption, HPLC, Ion Chromatography, Size Exclusion Chromatography, Electrophoresis, Trace Mercury Analysis, and variety other analytical techniques. The combination of headspace analysis with other analytical methods helped to solve many challenging problems for our clients. Our short course “Headspace Analysis. Theory and Practice.” has been given for many years at major analytical conferences and on site at many companies. Attendees overwhelmingly find this course to be very informative and practical.

Short course “Theory and Practice of Headspace Analysis”

This course is continuously updated and is being given for over 15 years at various locations 3-4 times a year. This two-day short course is concentrated on quantitative aspects of Headspace Analysis. Every theoretical point including the effect of temperatures, salinity, sample volume, etc. is illustrated by practical examples. Emphases are made on the use of Matrix Independent Quantification Techniques. Different Headspace Instruments and Headspace sampling approaches are presented. Effects of various parameters of sampling like pressurization time, pressure, equilibration time and temperature, agitation techniques, etc. are demonstrated. Special attention is given to the analysis of unstable and solid matrices like foods, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and biological specimens.
