Vended menstrual care is now accepted as a necessity in women’s public restrooms.
HOSPECO is proud to be the leader and the innovator in the category and provide these personal care products to millions of women over the years. Gards®, Maxithins®, Evogen™ and Dual Dispensers are the leading popular brands. HOSPECO has been the proud distributor of Tampax® tampons through vending machines since 1939.
In the 1980’s, HOSPECO expanded its personal care product line to include Health Gards® and Discreet Seat® flushable toilet seat covers and dispensers. At the time, toilet seat covers were primarily a popular product on the west coast. HOSPECO contributed to the education of the rest of the country to the benefits of the product for both patrons and facility managers and became the leader in this category as well in North America.
HOSPECO continued to add complementary products to its washroom bundle following this simple HOSPECO Expansion Rule (HER). In order to enter a new product category, our product line must be complementary to our existing product line, it must be complete, we must be positioned to lead in the category and provide expertise, innovation, marketing support, and differentiated value to our distributor partners.
To that end, HOSPECO introduced its first environmental care product line - first as Health Gards® and now as AirWorks® Complementary Air Care Systems. It is the most complete and comprehensive air care program in the industry encompassing all methods of air freshening for the restroom and other open areas. It features a family of complementary fragrances/odor counteractants and dispensing methods - continuous air care systems, metered aerosol, screen w/block, urinal screens, toss blocks, wall blocks, bowl clips, hang tags – EVA, Non-Para, and Para.
In 1980, HOSPECO’s parent purchased non-woven wiper converting operations for its retail division and eventually sold the retail business. The remaining converting operations were collapsed into HOSPECO. HOSPECO subsequently expanded these converting operations into a 300,000 sq. ft. converting facility/DC in Knoxville, TN and light converting in its western converting facility/DC in Reno, NV (75,000 sq. ft. ). HOSPECO is now one of the largest non-mill converters of wiping materials in the U.S.
TaskBrand® Wipers is a complete line of wipers for all possible wiping applications encompassing personal care (dry washcloths, disposable bath towels), food service, environmental care, applicationspecific and general purpose wiping and cleaning requirements. Continuing to apply the HER principle of complete breadth of complementary solutions, HOSPECO expanded the non-woven wiper cleaning line to include a complete line of woven/textile wipers (rags).
To further complete the wiper offering, HOSPECO introduced wipers for the floor, a complete line of TaskBrand® sorbents for general purpose and emergency use.
Finally, leveraging its core competency in non-woven wiper solutions along with its global procurement/strategic partnering strategy, HOSPECO expanded the wiper cleaning theme to include a complete line of microfiber environmental hygiene product solutions for facility maintenance, Microworks® for wiping and floor care.
HOSPECO identified an emerging personal care category in the Jan/San industry in PPE and introduced its ProWorks® PPE line of protective apparel, safety products, and disposable gloves. This is a category traditionally dominated by industrial/safety distributors but growing in the Jan/San market.
The sub-category of Disposable gloves has emerged as its own category. ProWorks® disposable glove line consists of a complete offering of exam and non-exam grade disposable gloves as well as a complete offering of work gloves – leather palm, driving, neoprene, etc. ProWorks® disposable gloves are available in latex, nitrile, vinyl and polyethylene – both powder and powder free and in multiple colors for healthcare, food service, security, and general purpose.
All of the above categories are "OK with HER" – complementary in theme, competencies, complete, positioned to lead and providing differentiated value. HOSPECO continues to evaluate other categories that can add value and contribute to the growth of our distributor partners.
