Sleep disorders are on the rise. It is estimated that nearly 75% of adult Americans experience sleep disorder symptoms at least a few nights per week. At the same time, sleep disturbances in some form are seen in as many as 25 to 30% of infants and children.

Studies suggest that magnesium is linked to better cognitive function and may reduce dementia risk.

People who consume more than 550 mg of magnesium daily had higher brain volumes than people who only consume 350 mg of magnesium daily. These effects were greater in women than compared to men.

Women’s hearts are different than men’s hearts. Biologically, female hearts are different in terms of response to medicines, tests and even the presentation of heart disease as well as the electrical conduction of the heart.

At the time of menopause, the risk of heart disease goes up. If symptomatic hot flashes and low estrogen state are not being treated, women can experience the following consequences from low estrogen in postmenopause that can increase the risk of heart disease:

- Increase in weight
- Cholesterol levels may rise
- Blood pressure may rise
