It's often said that breastfeeding (particularly while lying down at night) will cause tooth decay, just like letting a baby sleep with a bottle of milk can cause "baby bottle mouth." Essentially, a valid link has not been made between nursing (nighttime or otherwise) and cavities.

1. Flat head syndrome is a real thing and prevalent in babies who spend a lot of time in devices. The more asymmetrical the head, the more difficult it is for baby to turn their head in all directions.

2. Younger babies may miss feeding opportunities, leading to poor weight gain and/or a drop in parent's milk supply.

3. Babies need to move--even when they are asleep! Many babies learn new mobility skills while they are sleeping. And lack of movement may restrict normal motor development throughout infancy.

4. Bonding happens through frequent touch and communication. If babies are lulled to sleep by a machine, opportunities for bonding are lost.

5. The startle reflex seems annoying to us. But it actually is there for a purpose and helps prevent a baby from sleeping too deeply, which many believe is a risk factor for SIDS.

πŸ‘‰πŸΌThe SNOO seems like a comfy bed for a baby and if you have one and like it, that's ok! But I recommend turning off some of the features and to avoid using the built-in swaddle. You might also consider having baby sometimes sleep in other environments so you have flexibility down the road!
