When the unexpected happens, having a trusted guide makes all the difference. Patty Bush, benefits supervisor for Solon Schools, turned to the MedMutual CARE team for clarity, coordination, and compassionate support for a district employee’s family who was experiencing a healthcare crisis. The CARE team, as it is known, became the family’s guide, coordinating medical transportation, identifying in-network skilled nursing facilities and walking them through available community resources. Practicing moving your body every day really is as simple as this exercise – sit and stand. On average, adults sit at least 9 hours a day. Getting up and completing 2-3 sets of 10-15 repetitions of the sit and stand exercise can help you feel energized, strengthen your legs and build independence as you age.

If you're age 45, it's time for a colonoscopy. This procedure can seem intimidating, but here are a few things you can expect before and after a colonoscopy:

📅Before

- Tell your doctor about all medications you take, especially for diabetes, blood pressure, or heart conditions. Only stop medications if your provider tells you to.

- Eat low‑fiber foods a few days before the procedure.

- Switch to clear liquids only the day before (no solid food or non-clear drinks like milk or juice).

- You'll be prescribed a laxative. This should be taken the afternoon or evening before the procedure. You'll have frequent bathroom trips.

✔️After

- After the 30–60 minute procedure under full or light sedation, you can go home. The sedation takes about a day to wear off and you'll need a ride home.
- Mild, usually brief, side effects include bloating, gas or nausea. You can eat your typical meals when you feel ready.

Your provider is your partner in health. Ask questions, they can help guide you through what this process will look like for you. Get the details about what happens during a colonoscopy: https://ow.ly/eOUT50YoyTE

Cardiac arrest can happen without notice, and with quick action you can be a lifesaver.

Here's what to do in different situations if you see someone go into cardiac arrest:

👤If you are alone: Call 911 immediately and begin CPR until emergency services arrive.

👥If bystander help is available: Have one person perform CPR while the other is on the phone with 911. Periodically switch roles to prevent exhaustion. Continue until emergency services arrive and can take over.

An automated external defibrillator (AED), if available, can also be used in both situations.
