Here’s what you need to know‼️

Acclimation is just a slow introduction to the sun and outdoor elements.

Start your plants in a pretty shady spot for a few days and over the next week move your plant slowly into the sun.

Make sure your plant is well hydrated and not root bound because that can cause it to dry faster outdoors.

Always wait until nighttime lows are consistently above 50°F

Important to know not all your plants want direct sunlight… in fact, most of them don’t!!

Ficus, succulents, snake plants and desert cacti can all take pretty direct light for a majority of the day.

Pothos, philodendron, peperomia, monstera, and many others want a much more shady spot.

Understanding your climate and understanding how your plant grows in its natural environment is the key - you’re trying to match those two things as best you can.

Remember, if your plant burns, it’s not dead… it just means it’s either too much sun or you moved it into the sun too quickly.

I knew I was going to have to smash this pot which is why I waited so long after this big pruning (chopping) of this bird of paradise plant. I wanted proof of life before doing something drastic.

We learn by doing and I hope watching my videos make you a little more confident in the doing - your plants are not as fragile as you think and sometimes the most drastic plant care gives you the best results.

My style of plant care might not be the same as your style of plant care and that’s okay.

Cacti are tough. Mostly they need a lot of light and some occasional water… and if you’re in a northern place like Cleveland, you gotta give them the chop bc they can etiolate and become leggy, flimsy and ugly.

Snake plant care is easy, but it’s also specific.

Use a pot that is shallow and only slightly bigger than the root/rhizome ball.

Cactus and succulent soil is best. The soil in their native environment is rocky, sandy and fast draining. This is not a plant that wants to sit in soggy soil!

They’re also native to regions that get a ton of direct sunlight, so while it’s not going to die in a low light setting, the more light you can give your snake plant the better!

Always watch for fungal infections and treat immediately!

Enjoy your snake plant… this is a plant that can last a lifetime!

In my plant care business, the amount of money trees that I don’t see with something wrapped around the trunk is small.

If you have one of these plants make sure you check next time you repot.

This won’t be a problem until it’s a problem so it’s better to just get ahead of it.

Have you found this or something else wrapped around your money tree?

I think some of the propagations are going to do well and some are going to end up deceased but that’s the way things go.

The one change I’ll be making this week is getting them more light - I’ll probably take these outside to give them an extra boost now that temps will be above 50° at night for the foreseeable future!

More light is always best when it comes to ficus and propagation!

Follow along and I’ll give you all the details!

Honestly, I watch my husband in the garden pluck caterpillars off his cabbage all summer long and just bask in the knowledge that I don’t have to deal with that BS as an indoor plant lover…

Today everything changed and I am ruined.

Roots growing outside your pot isn’t the worst thing to ever happen but it’s not ideal.

You wanna build a strong root system inside the soil so that those roots are getting all the nutrition the soil has to offer and so the plant grows strong and stable!

Also, if your cachepot fills with water and you don’t know it’s happening that’s a recipe for root rot and root rot is bad, mmmmkay.

I always recommend potting into nursery pots, slipping that pot into something decorative and watering at the sink so you’re sure the soil is saturated AND dripped dry! It takes a little more effort, but it’s worth it every time!
