Today we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose work toward justice is as important today as when he was alive. He once said, 'Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" At PEP, this question is something we think about - and act on - every day.

At PEP, we love celebrating staff who go above and beyond. Today we're sending a shout out to David Roberts from Autism Center. For this year's fall fest he hand-drew and painted cardboard boxes to have a bean bag and ring toss, putt-putt, spider race on a fishing line, and a fun house where students could shoot a Nerf gun at creatures he had made. We appreciate you, Mr. Roberts.

This fall kids from had the chance to learn about insects, bats and coyotes from the Cleveland Metroparks who made a special visit to their schools. There's nothing like interacting with artifacts from nature to help overcome fear of these creatures!

PEP is extremely proud to share that Mikey, a student, pictured here with his music teacher, Mr. Taylor, will be singing this Sunday, Jan. 11 at 7 PM as part of the chorus for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. concert at Severance Hall. The chorus sings alongside the Cleveland Orchestra.

"A few months back now he showed that he has an absolutely gorgeous low male voice and has taken on the challenge of singing some high-level music, not all of which is in English," explained Mr. Taylor. "I have had the honor of singing in the chorus is years past, but this year is particularly special watching a student successfully tackle near-professional level musicianship but also watching [him] smile and THRIVE as he makes meaningful and positive connections to the people around him. I am VERY proud teacher."

Hey Mr. Taylor - we're SO proud of Mikey but we're also proud of your role in helping him reach for his full potential.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity. I wouldn’t be sharing this success story today if we hadn’t received the funding and support from OhioRISE,” Soren's mom said. “We had exhausted what we could do on our own. That support is what turned things around.”

At PEP, we're proud to have played a role in Soren's success story as a provider of care coordination. For so many kids like Soren, it this extra support that makes all the difference. We're also grateful for partnerships like the one with DJ Nerve Institute that play such a critical role in our kids lives.

OhioRISE — Resilience through Integrated Systems and Excellence — is a specialized Medicaid-managed care program designed to serve children and youth with complex behavioral health and multisystem needs. It integrates physical health, mental health, and community services under one coordinated plan, helping young people function better at home, in school, and in their communities.
