April is recognized as Neurodiversity and Autism Acceptance Month, a time to honor the many ways people think, learn, and experience the world.
Neurodiversity acknowledges that conditions such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia are natural variations of the human brain. Rather than viewing these differences as deficits, we recognize them as strengths – including creativity, pattern recognition, and innovative problem-solving. From the pioneering work of sociologist Judy Singer to advocates like Temple Grandin, we have learned that embracing different cognitive perspectives drives meaningful progress and innovation.
At Insurance Board, fostering an environment of understanding and inclusive practices is core to our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This month, we celebrate the unique contributions of neurodivergent individuals and reaffirm our dedication to a culture where every way of thinking is valued, respected, and supported.
