Thank you, New York! 🙏🏿
Yesterday’s NYC premiere of Home of the Brave was nothing short of extraordinary.
I’m deeply grateful to DOC NYC, Creatively Speaking, The New School’s Institute on Race, Power & Political Economy, and every organizer, curator, and volunteer who poured their heart into creating this space. And to the directors and stars of each of the compelling shorts—Bloodlines, Mississippi, Down North, La Orquesta, Teaching America, and The Good Fight—thank you for your courage, your vision, and your voice.
Each film carried a message that stayed with us long after the lights came up:
✨ supporting communities with hope and dignity
✨ affirming possibility and new beginnings
✨ finding community, advocacy-megaphone, and strength in adversity
✨ exposing systemic injustice while spotlighting the resilience that refuses to be erased
These stories remind us that healing is collective, that change begins with truth, and that every act of advocacy—big or small—moves the world forward.
As we continue the fight for PAD awareness, prevention, and the end of preventable amputations, this journey—and these stories—remind us why we cannot and will not stop.
To everyone who came out, listened, watched online and leaned into the conversation: thank you. Yesterday stands as one of the most fulfilling days of my personal and professional journey.
Please continue to support these powerful shorts and the storytellers who crafted them. Their work is a light in a time when our nation needs it most.
With gratitude and hope,
Dr Fakorede
