How can you truly remove a civilization? Who are you to think you have that power? What gives you the right to speak about it in that way?

You cannot erase a civilization because it isn’t just something you see on a map.
It is embedded in our DNA and written into our cellular memory. It is the core of our identity. You can try to change the world around us, but you cannot change the blood that flows through us. We are the living breath of our ancestors, and that is a flame that cannot be extinguished.

I grew up with a very specific mindset:
if you fall down, you get back up, shake off the dust, and keep your head held high.

That resilience is exactly who we are, and it is the same lesson I teach my daughters.

I tell them the story of the Ghoghnus. I tell them of the legendary bird that lives for a thousand years, singing the most beautiful, lonely songs from its high perch.
I tell them how, when its time comes, it gathers a nest of dry wood and sings a final, powerful note that ignites a flame. But the story doesn’t end in the fire. From those very ashes, a new Ghoghnus rises, young and strong, carrying the spirit of the one before it.

I tell my daughters this so they understand that our people are just like that bird. We have survived the fires of history, and every time someone thinks we are gone, we rise again, renewed and unbreakable.

I want them to know that no matter what happens in life, they must always remember their roots. They carry a history that is meant to be honored, not forgotten.

I stand in total solidarity with my people. It weighs on me deeply that I cannot be there with you right now, but please know that my heart and my support are unshakeable.
