I’m excited to share our recently published study in Wounds International.

Chronic venous insufficiency remains a challenging condition, and while compression therapy is foundational, traditional garments often fall short in terms of usability impacting adherence and ultimately patient outcomes.

Our team at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM) conducted a pilot study evaluating a novel gradient compression system designed to address these barriers. The results offer encouraging insights into how improved usability, comfort, and patient experience may enhance treatment success for individuals living with venous disease and venous leg ulcers. “Real-World Evidence on Nitric Oxide Delivering Foam for Pressure Ulcer Healing in Skilled Nursing Facilities: Addressing the Evidence Gap”
will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM (WHS Session L4).

This research dives into the role of Nitric Oxide in pressure ulcer management in closing persistent gaps in healing for vulnerable populations.

Join us at to explore how innovation and evidence intersect in wound care.

What are your thoughts on Nitric Oxide as a therapeutic strategy for chronic wounds?

I am delighted to announce my recent appointment as a Trustee for the ABWM Foundation.

The ABWM Foundation plays a vital role in supporting the work of the American Board of Wound Management, advancing education, certification, and standards that elevate the quality of wound care across the healthcare continuum.

Together, we will continue to advocate for innovation, education, and certification that empower clinicians and improve outcomes for those living with wounds.

2026: A New Era for Wound Care Clinicians
Payment models have changed.

Profitability now depends on smart choices (~$127/cm² matters). But the real differentiator? Real-World Evidence (RWE)

Why RWE?
✔ Captures real-life complexity
✔ Guides product selection for better outcomes
✔ Strengthens your case with payers
This year, evidence-driven care isn’t optional—it’s essential. Are you ready to integrate RWE into your protocols?

My latest article for the WOUNDS: The Official Journal of SAWC CTP News Desks dives into this question.

It's the first full working day of 2026 & the new PFS for Cellular and Tissue-Based Product is active.

This new payment reality will reshape the CTP market. With the demise of the 2014 package pricing in the HOPD and the recinding of the overly restrictive LCDs, wound care is entering an era where better patient care and fiscal responsibility align.

Here’s what’s changing:

✅ HOPDs can now treat large wounds profitably by selecting CTPs priced below $127/cm².
✅ Mobile and office-based clinicians must also choose products under this threshold.
✅ The new math:
Practitioner Profit per cm² = $127 – cost per cm² of CTP.

What are clinicians to do? Start by choosing CTPs based on real-world clinical benefit not just price. Practitioners should prioritize outcomes supported by real-world evidence (RWE). 2026 is the year we run toward evidence-driven wound care.

What do you think? Will RWE finally take center stage in CTP selection? Let’s discuss!
