Highlights from the 2025 Annual Sleep Conference in Alabama!

This past weekend, our team had an amazing time attending the 2025 Annual Sleep Conference, hosted by the Sleep Professionals of Alabama, at Wind Creek Casino in Atmore, AL, on August 15th and 16th. From the Friday bowling mixer to connecting with colleagues at our booth, it was an incredible opportunity to engage with the sleep community.

Could Slow-Wave Sleep Loss Be a Risk Factor for Dementia?

Did you know that slow-wave sleep (SWS) loss with aging can increase the risk of developing dementia? A study published in JAMA Neurology found that greater reductions in SWS were associated with a higher risk of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. This decline in SWS impairs the brain's ability to clear beta-amyloid proteins, which are linked to neurodegeneration.
