May marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Month, and it is a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health.

In EMS, we see the impact of mental health challenges every day. It affects people from all walks of life, and it is something that should be talked about openly, not avoided. Breaking the stigma starts with simple things checking on each other, being willing to listen, and understanding that asking for help is not a weakness.

If you or someone you know is struggling, do not ignore it. There are resources available and people who care. Taking care of your mental health is part of taking care of yourself, and it matters.

Remote Area Medical (RAM) will be hosting a free, two-day pop-up clinic providing dental, vision, and general medical services to anyone (no insurance required).

Services include dental cleanings, fillings, and extractions; eye exams and free eyeglasses; and general medical consultations. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dates: November 8–9, 2025
Location: Cleveland State Community College, 3535 Adkisson Dr.,

The patient parking lot will open at midnight on Friday, November 7th, and clinic doors typically open around 6:00 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring medications, snacks, water, and any personal essentials. Due to capacity limits, patients may need to choose between dental or vision services.
