For those Cleveland Public Power folk still without power, here is the latest update from CPP:
Good evening all, below you will find the latest update from CPP:
Tuesday, August 13, 2024 Evening CPP Storm Restoration Update
Cleveland Public Power crews with the assistance of municipal power partners from Hudson, Wadsworth and Orville have restored service to 99% of the 34,000 customers out of service. The teams will continue to work around the clock to restore the remaining approximately 270 customers without service.
During this event, the first order of business was restoration of the 70 feeders serving the largest number of customers. The next phase of restoration is restoring primary wires that serve smaller segments, so instead of a whole neighborhood you are now tackling possibly two or three streets. We are now in the next phase, which is connecting house loops and service pipes. The service pipes connect power to individual homes and the house loops feed the homes from the poles.
The final phases are more labor intensive and may involve several crews to erect poles, and other infrastructure ripped out during the storm.
Highlights of the progress:
99% of customers restored (33,730)
270 currently without service
More than 150 Cleveland Public Power line workers, transmission and distribution inspectors, line clearance workers, meter technicians and support staff are working on restoration efforts
3 Mutual Aid crews from Hudson Municipal Power, Wadsworth Municipal Power and Orville Municipal Power are on hand to assist with storm recovery
CPP’s Restoration Process:
Cleveland Public Power’s restoration process after a severe weather event focused on repairing primary feeders, which affected the largest number of customers. The majority of primary wires are restored, but some were inaccessible due to large trees obstructing our crews. The focus now includes individual lines down, transformer repairs and individual households.
